If you wanna save some money go for the SVE's but IMO the 6GR's look better.

Gotcha, not as good (in pure $ amount, same %) as some of those $400 off a set deals I see in the Wheels forum...but these are also not $4000 for a set!

Anyone have a pic of a Mustang with Project 6GR wheels in either hyper-silver or brushed silver? That seems like an elusive pic to find -- I guess the "kids" these days aren't into bright wheels....

Hopefully someone from Project 6GR or on this forum can help me here. With respect to these two pictures, what exactly is driving the stretched wheel look in one (which I (and I'm sure many others) hate) and the other back tire that is more normal to my eye. I assume it's some combination of tire width and wheel width, but if someone buys these wheels, there are only two choices: a 19x10 and/or a 19/11. Further, those wheels will only accommodate certain tires. So, is that stretched look from putting on a narrow tire?? That would seem logical but those tires on each car look quire wide (305 if not more I suspect). So, what is going on here? How to avoid the stretched look if one was to buy these 7 spoke wheels in a 19x10 and 19x11 back arrangement??

Spot on. There are a number of good wheel and tyre calculators on the net that will advise maximum, optimum, and minimum recommended tyre widths for a given rim width. For example a 275 tyre tends to be the minimum recommended width for an 19x11 rim and it looks stretched like in the pic you posted of the black car, whereas a 305 doesn't. Some folks claim better steering response with slightly stretched tyres as it makes the sidewalls stiffer.

The only complication is that stated tyre widths can vary a little in actual size between different manufacturers and sometimes differences in sidewall construction will make tyres of the same size look more, or less, stretched. A Bridgestone ECR 33s specified for the Lexus 350 looks about right whereas a Potenza in the same size on the same rim looks slightly stretched.

The black 550 is running Michelin Pilot Super Sports which have cupped edges. They are not stretched. They are a great tire but have a different look aesthetically to that of a squared side wall.
Ahh, thanks. Well, that's damn good to know. As a casual observer and car guy, had I placed an internet order for a wheel/tire combo I might not have known that. I'll definitely ask a lot of questions before I actually pick and order some combo in the future.

I do :)

i'm gonna be honest, i'm not happy with the quality of finish from 6GR. The first time they delivered the wheels they had runs and dust in the finish and it was flat instead of gloss.

The second time you can still see visible sanding marks under the finish and the sides of the spokes have a weird thing going on. They DO look good until you stick your face up to the wheels, but for the price they run i wouldn't buy them again, and regret my purchase. I would by the regular 6GRs and have them powdercoated locally, because their guys couldn't get it right over two tries. I didn't bother sending them back a second time because they obviously are unable to do a good job, and i'll just get them refinished locally in a few years, as they don't look bad, just not up to the quality you'd expect for paying EXTRA lol.
