I have a 2018 non-PP GT. I'm about to install the Cervinis grilles and see that the instructions have me remove the active shutter system. Will this have any negative effects? Why isn't this system on the performance pack cars?

No negative effects here. I was just changing the grill pony to black and saw that shutter system in there. I made a few phone calls about it and decided to remove it. I have not noticed any measurable effect on gas mileage. It is supposed to make the front end more aerodynamic for fuel mileage and also help with vehicle warm up. I'm sure the PP models don't have it because it is not really needed and it weighs extra. Maybe it also impedes some flow across the radiator too so for track conditions it will cause issues. All I know is I deleted it and have had zero issues.

its my understanding they are a mpg aerodynamics item. closed for aero and open when cooling is needed

dont the PP have larger radiators? it might simply not fit or might have been prone to overheat in "event" situations

Yes, both EB and GT PP have larger radiators. I assume this is why they don't get the active shutter system.

Active grille shutters are strictly for manufacturer mpg requirements aka CAFE standards. They probably help squeak out an extra couple tenths of an mpg. Wait until they stop working and don't open back up. Probably won't happen, but there's always that chance.

Nope, EB and GT PP don't have them for 18. The 15-17 had them only on EB I believe.

If it does happen, the PCM throws a CEL... :frusty:

Unfortunately not everyone cares about a CEL. I've seen tons of people just shrug it off like it's "just another indicator" on the dash that's supposed to be there.

Easy to remove.
Keep the electrical connector and remove the little motor.
Dump the shutters and zip the the connector and the motor to the crash bar.
The ecu will never know the shutters are gone, the motor will send the proper signal. No codes.
