I see a few new 18 owners talking about picking up their car and immediately using cruise control. The owner's manual says to vary rpm for the first 1,000 miles and not stay at the same rpm for too long. I'm guessing most on here just don't worry about break-in?
Active cruise control? :)

I'm not sure how high to gun it just yet as I'm at 400 miles. I hit 4K once and I thought I had hit the redline. I'll make it a point to put the trans in S mode and have some fun tonight.

Right now I'm at 18-19 MPG combined and it's a shock from the 32MPG of my previous car.

My 18 A10 is getting 25mpg on 93 and 20mpg on e85. This is mix driving but mostly cruising back and forth to work 40 miles each way. If I am driving aggressively on the weekend obviously it drops a bit.

90% of my driving is to and from work. Most of that is highway, but if you know Denver traffic, I-25 is a parking lot. I set my trip computer shortly after I purchased the car and have not reset it in over 13,000 miles.

I am not a lead foot, but when the traffic permits I'm 75-80 MPH. When I'm driving around town, I normally shift 1,3,5,6. Finally, I do love to put my foot in it when I get on the freeway. Here's a pic of my trip computer.

13,851.0 and 339 hours. That's an average of 41 MPH

I'm thinking it will still suck because it's 8 cylinders and this is an irrelevant topic for a car like this just like all the other MPG threads.
Averaging 31.7mpg on a 200 mile highway trip @ 65 mph (5 over the speed limit here). This is a 17 though. Mods in sig.

Don't you love it when somebody decides what everybody else should be thinking? It's important to me that the car gets decent mpg when I choose to go out for a cruise.

I agree my friend. It's doesn't have to be great, but decent is nice if you're on a 5K road trip.

I have a little over 2100 miles on my A10. I would estimate about half are freeway miles. I drive around 90 on the freeway, and drive pretty spirited around town. My average mileage so far is 16.4 according to the fuel tracking app on my phone. I think 20 on the freeway is pretty accurate. You could probably do better if you drive slower than I do, and take it easy accelerating.
I pretty much do the same thing and my lifetime average is at 16.5 mpg. I'm usually between 70-73 on the freeway though. Doesn't help that there's usually a ton of traffic either.

It's getting deep in here!

Might want to check your MPG calibration.

That would start with Ford. I reset the mpg once I set the cruise. Did not touch the gas or brakes for 19 miles. 34.7. I will gladly film the entire 19 mile one way trip at 60 mph if you wish. I’m simply reporting what the computer was showing.

That was a purely highway number in D. No stop start etc. As I said above, no touching the gas or brake for 19 miles on cruise at 60 mph and reset the mpg after cruise was set.

I never drive like that btw but I was bored and going to be super early from an appointment so I had nothing better to do.

My lifetime on the car is around 17 mph. I will check this weekend when I get back in the car.

That’s really deceptive considering you took out the entire speed up process. What truly matters is “lifetime” mpg.

I agree but the question was hwy mpg so my sample is as much pure hwy mpg you can get. Not at all a realistic reflection of normal daily driving or even a road trip. Just what the car can do cruising on the hwy which was the ops question.

The average on that tank prior to the reset was 12.9 over 85 miles since fill up.

For what's it worth, I have a 2017 GT Premium, auto, 3.15 axle ratio. I have been tracking my fuel economy since I purchased the car:

63 fill ups.
calculated mpg: 17.27 mpg
computer mpg: 18.26 mpg

I estimate my city/highway percentage on each fill up: estimated 59% city/41% highway

I've had the same experience 2016 GT convertible. My calculated mpg's are always 1 to 1.5 mpg less than what the computer says I'm getting. Sometimes a little better and sometimes a little worse. I filled up this afternoon with the computer saying 22.5 and my calculations came up with 20.8. I have yet to take the car on a pure freeway trip yet. I'm hoping to do that late July into August so we'll see how it works out.
