I saw a youtube where the guy took cardboard squares and cut them so that they folded up the sides, taped them and then wrapped 2 together with lots of film. They looked very well protected.

That's how I would do it, except with some bubble film wrapped around before putting on the cardboard. Another option could be getting in contact with a manufacturing/shipping company that can do the heated foam/insulation packaging. It kinda flows around the product and molds to that shape and is wrapped in gray. I can't remember the name for the life of me, but we used it at one company I worked at for shipping all kinds of aero engine parts across the world.

edit » sealed air foam bags. This type of thing.

Funny you should ask...they are partially packed, just need to get an outer box. I checked out several shippers and it comes down to ups or nex. Has anybody used nex? Not sure how it works as I don't see an nex location near me...

Well today is the day my wheels should be picked up by Fedex via Shipnex. I took the box to my local ups store and they quoted $101. Shipnex was $79 to CA, Eric Vaughn. They did add weight in their online quote, 95lb vs 71 actual, not sure why but $6.50 for a pickup vs. me lugging it 30 miles to Abq in my gas hog truck and back is a bargain.
I did a hybrid double box by using trash bags, then cutting and folding regular cardboard into an octogon around each wheel on both sides using lots of hd packing tape followed by a double wall box from u-haul with some foam padding. Would have been easier if I found smaller boxes for each wheel instead of the custom wrap. Packing material total was about $11.
Finger crossed and now have to wait several weeks...

Sounds like you were very thorough in your packing, I'm anxious to see the finished product. I have also decided that if I can find a pair of these wheels, local, no shipping, blah, blah, I'm going to do the same. I love that pic of the 10.5's on here with the 305 nittos, that looks awesome!

Widened wheels came in today, finally. I like that there is just one weld and not three.

Glad you finally got them back, any problems? Did you score that smokin deal on those 295's? Anxious to see the finished product...

Been gone for a week, hope to mount them up today and go for a no spin...
And yes, $250/pair for MPSS w/1400 miles and not abused.

I sent the guy in NC a message asking him if he'd sell 2 of the 4 CS wheels he had for sale a few months ago. He didnt respond. Either sold them or doesnt want to split them up, who knows. I wish he would have reponded either way so I knew. I am curious also as to whether Michelin will be making a 305 35 in the PS4S when they supposedly release their new sizes this month. I am anxiously awaiting your pix!!!

Went for a test drive and what a difference. No drama, just hook up a go! Should have come this way...
They look identical from the side, perfect sleeper.

No problems, he's just super busy and hasn't even cashed my check yet. He's a little old fashioned.
