Hi guys,

A friend of mine who works at ford in the USA in the Mustang mfg plant told me he heard that ford has definitely scrapped the redesigned Mustang for 2021 and pushed it to 2025-2026. they had a big meeting there about it as its coming from the tops decision. They want to squeeze and pull a 10-12 year cycled with the 2015 body style. He heard there will be slight engine changes like hybrid around the 2021 mark but the body style is planned to stay almost the same till 2025-2026.
He said this is a fact.

Im not complaining its a nice body style compared with any other year.

Disappointing if true but not surprising given the current state of Ford projects. I would still expect another small refresh to the front and rear to further refine the design. Maybe even an interior refresh but the main chassis and body remain unchanged.

He said nothing major at all to tell it sort from the current model. Thats all he told me.
Think 2005-2014.

Well the s197 lasted from 2005-2014 but it had a pretty significant refresh in 2010.

In my opinion I didn't care for the 2005-2014 I prefer this new body style. But who know what Ford has up there sleeve. Are they struggling for sales or what? Why do this?

10 years is normal. SN95 was 1994-2004, S197 was 2005-2014. There will be "design refreshes" between now and then, just like the 2018 redesign, the 2013 redesign, 2010, 1999, etc. :)

Doesn't bother me. They will do a similar change like the 2010 model year did.

Don't forget the fox ran from 79 to 93 and still has a huge following. I think it's just a testament to how great the current model is. Someone thinks it can stay competitive in the market for another 3 - 7 years.

Not surprised. It is a good design. Hopefully they will change the front end currently not a fan of the '18s.

Not surprised really

10 years makes sense actually, especially considering how well the S550 has sold.

For me, makes placing an order for a ‘19 Bullitt next month even easier. :D

6 months from now, they will start to make the 2019 model year Mustang.

So 2021-25 is only roughly 5-6 years more. Making the S550 Mustang a MY2015 ~ 2025 a 10 year run.

The S550 Mustang was designed with more care and resources and meant to have a longer platform to grow, design off of. (Just like GM's vaulted alpha platform.) Ford just went through a mid-cycle refresh of the S550 in this current 2018 model year. There will be more "refreshes, if so.

Hacket, (Ford's new CEO) is making wholesale changes. Which ties in along with "if the s650 was cancelled, or delayed..?" thread. Hacket is just now letting his decisions (& goal settings), to trickle down and find their places within lower management.

As such, there is nothing wrong with a 10 year production run. (Heck, it looks like Chevy is going to take a few production runs, to get their car right...)
