What I get from this discussion it seems the 3.15 gearing might be a better fit for long term use especially if your looking to plop a super charger or turbo in it. It seems it would definately run a little stronger in the standing mile or quarter mile pushing 700+hp. From a roll it will be better off as well plus the 3.15's seem to be strong fit for the A10 with MPG is a by product.

This isn’t a direct auto to auto comparison but these are 2 stock 18 GTs in Mexico. Blue A10 3.15 gears and Manual is a PP with 3.73. The blue auto also has 20” wheels with a 35 profile that measure up to nearly an inch taller than factory stocks. These A10s are moving with the tall gearing.

Both gear are great. I would suggest to anybody that having the gear dilemma to just test drive both if you just want to pick-up the correct gear for your need.

What's perfect for me may not be the same for you!

Now 95% of the fastest 2011+ Mustang naturally aspirated bolt-ons or with power adder are running either 3.15 or 3.31 with 26" or 28" tires depending on the power level and mods level.

The 3.55 may feel faster but it's not in the vast majority of the case.

It may be more fun with the 3.55 but with the mods you can see in my signature bellow I really like the 3.15 with the 20 lbs less aluminum housing differential. The A10 first gear is really short and the 3.15 suit it perfectly.

If I would have keep my 2018 completely stock I may have choose the 3.55 but with mods it's 3.15 for me.

Again test drive it we are all different. Even stock my 3.15 never felt sluggish and I am use to shorter gear in manual car.

Hey all. Looking forward to purchase a mustang GT in auto and was wondering if there’s quite a difference with the 3.15 vs 3.55. I don’t know too much about the rear so any help is appreciated :)
What are you doing with the car. Daily driving? Is you commute highway? Are you tracking the car, drag racing, etc.

I have the 6r80 with 3:15. It is a daily driver. I wish I had 3.55's. Currently have 3,15 and it could use that bottom end pep. It is sluggish in D with 3,15's and it aggravates me.
Yes, you could just push the pedal further......but it is hard to explain, I want that torque feeling, and the 3.15 do not give that to you. It pulls hard at 4500-7600 though, but they all do and it is rare for
me to be at that RPM
