from everything i can find it looks like Ford only put launch control on the manual trans cars. is this right? I'm not finding much said about it in the owners manual

Tell that to all the DSG VW cars that have launch control. Not needed on Automatics, That's why they're called automatics!
my A8 ScatPack had launch control .. it was sweet.launch control on a auto would be heaven.... could you imagine a 4000 stall with the factory launch control :eyebulge::eyebulge:
DSG's are manual transmissions. They're just computer controlled manual transmissions as opposed to human controlled manual transmissions. Launch control just allows for a more aggressive launch either way.Tell that to all the DSG VW cars that have launch control.
Same here.I tried L.C. once on my car.
Once.
Not something to use on the street.
My point exactly! It's my understanding that the 10-speed auto doesn't need it. If you have it in track or drag mode and drop the pedal to the floor, it's programmed to "know" what you're doing and "launch" you all on its own (especially if you have magneride equipped). I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what a Ford engineer stated on one of the YouTube car channels I watch, I think it was "TheFastCarLane".
Exactly! It's not like a DSG that has a clutch to dump. Torque convertor is always engaged.
