Hi everyone,

So a month or 2 ago I purchased a PMAS intake and the Intake temps are horrible. The intake box basically started falling apart, the lining around the box basically came off.

Does PMAS or any other company sell just the box by itself? I preferably want an enclosed box that I can put the PMAS in.

+1 on thermo wrap. There aren't many options available.

You can get a heat shield from PMAS. I got mine from beefcake.

All these CAI's move the MAF closer to the radiator (well, at least my JLT did), so heat soak now becomes an issue at idle. Once moving my IAT's were much lower than the stock box. I've since thermo wrapped it, 10 degree drop in IAT everywhere.

Cheers
Have pics of the thermo application? Also, where'd you get it?

Best

A cover on the air box is the only thing that will make a real notable difference. These companies spend all this money on "R&D" and put out HAI(hot air intakes). Unless you're moving above 35mph, they aren't doing shit. For the 300-400 you spend on a CAI, that bitch should form to the hood or be closed box while out flowing the stock box. Coming from a camero to a mustang, I didn't know much. But steeda was supposed to have a good CAI for our cars, so I went there. I honestly think it's a pile of shit, like the PMAS and JLT. Horribly formed plastic, shitty weather stripping, sucks in nothing but hot air until you're moving. Then, when you're moving, you're partially losing the ram air affect. The only intakes I would consider are the injen(restrictor removed) or GT350. I wish cold air inductions made a box for our cars. Anyway, sorry for the rant. I tried various things to lower IATs and the most effective thing was making a cover for my box. IT was a pain in the ass too. I definitely wouldn't do it again. It looks easier to make one for a PMAS though.

I wouldn't think making a cover wouldn't be that hard.. I have 1/8" plexiglass, cut to fit inside the box, drill through the box into the sides of the plex screw together.. done. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. Cheers.

You have to dremel out the grill, remove all the octagons. Made a huge difference for me, I am using the Steeda intake.

Damn, lol.

I’ll have to get some of that thermo stuff. If I drill the grill does it really help?

This...I have PP2...so GT350 CAI, at a dead stop IATs are still high but with the dremeled out grill IATs drop much quicker than stock once you get moving even moving slowly.

I've been wanting to do a grill delete myself and I probably will in the next few weeks. I have the cervinis stalker hood without the ram air duct installed which should ventilate more air from the engine bay. When I get my car back I'll be sure to log my results and post them up for you guys. Then I'll decide on the grill delete. But with the cooler air moving in that may have an effect on my findings. I'll post them up either way!
