I had a "close encounter" with Paul Newman at Summit Point Raceway in the late 1970's...He drove into the paddock and a large circle of fans surrounded his car. My group was to the rear of the car and as he got out, he scanned the crowd then locked-on to me making eye contact as he walked directly to me. As he got close all I could do was extend my hand which he took and shook as I stepped aside and he proceeded to his pit area. Everyone looked at me like "why you?". It was a great moment...what a legend he was!

The first time I ever grunted to get off the garage floor was when I was 35 and I thought to myself "mmmm"

That was 17 years ago, I grunt a lot more getting up off the garage floor

Tip - go buy some cheap, thick throw or area rugs and put 'em on the garage floor when you're under the car working. Makes a big difference for me. Granted I'm only 45, but sports plus the Army makes my knees / ankles and back remind me of my impending doom every time I crawl out from under a car.

I also had a '69 Mach S Code 390, with C6 auto trans. Paid $900 for it in 1977. lol

Here's my list of the more interesting Mustangs I've owned:

'69 Mach 1 (used)
'82 GT (new)
'83 GT (new)
'85 GT (new)
'93 LX 5.0 (new)
'95 Cobra (new)
'11 Mustang V6 (new)
'12 GT (new)
'13 GT (new)
'16 GT (almost "new", had 3k on the odo)

Non Mustangs included:

'71 Datsun 240-Z (used)
'04 Neon SRT-4 (new)
'05 Cobalt SS Supercharged w/factory Stage 2 (new)
'10 Camaro V6 manual trans (yeah, I know, nice car but visibility was bad, traded)

Raced many of the Stangs, mostly for fun and to test mods.

Was once challenged by a friend to win a trophy, took me about 2 Sunday's of racing when I won. Was extremely boring though, will never do that again ...

What happened to you in the 90's for you to endure such automotive misery?

Or carpet scraps when you or you neighbors get it replaced. New neighborhoods are a good source too. Just ask the installer and he will be more than happy to give you all you can haul away.

My luck I'd get shag / deep pile and constantly lose bolts / hardware in it...:D
