Now that we know the GT500 will be unveiled at the Detroit show for MY2019(?), when is the best time to get an early allocation? I have never done it.

I was told its going to be 2020 but I was told something else quite interesting.
Their would be an R edition :)
Has anyone else heard this?

GT500R? Yes, that is the rumor and likely the big wing in the teaser vid from Ford. As long as not killed by new management, the 500R will be sold above the 500.

I’d think the R would be the NA GT350
And the KR would be the top of the line FI GT500.

It’s time the KR was a thing again.
But it won’t. Everything seems to point out that it will be GT500 and GT500R and that’s it.

I don’t see the same things you say you see.

The GT350 R model is cool. Kinda like the NA 5.4 Cobra R in 2000.

But the KR is the 500s thing. It has a better meaning. And KR looks better on a badge.

We will see what moniker wins out.

I suspect if there is an R version,
much like the 350 it will be a step above
regular 500 not a whole different car,
but little details yet, like most waiting.
Well I got my name on a list if there is a GT500R lol.
Hope I can get it in same colour as my 350 :)

Nothing was said about KR, but who knows.

But we need to see what Ford is doing. With the new GT500 they are following the same path they did with the GT350 with it being a “track focused” car, Ford is playing the same game than Chevy with the ZL1 and ZL1 1LE.

I can’t see how a GT500KR could be a good name for a track focused car, there’s absolutely no information about a KR variant, however there are (at least) rumors about the GT500R (in case it happens to be two variants). The last GT500KR was a overpriced GT500 modded by Shelby American and sold by Ford, I think we are already past beyond that.

I should inquire at my dealer too. The dealer I purchased my 350 from has a very good relationship with ford performance as they recently just sold the only (so far) Ford GT in Alberta. If there’s information to be had, they’ll have it.

I was at the event where they unveiled the car, in fact it was very big deal where Fred Phillips hosted it. For those that don’t know Fred is a huge deal around here.

He has the kind of collection Mr. Leno goes to see.

I'm guessing the GT500R model will be sold similar to the GT350 and 350R, where production is around 1:10 ratio for the R.
Its a wait and see...

Which is what I’m afraid of. I have zero connections so that means to get the R trim it’s probably going to be north of 100k.

I hear you... unless they somehow allocate differently, like making the R an upgradeable package that isn't limited, only by who wants that particular package. otherwise it's gonna be a long wait, until adms subside... but fear not, they will it's just a matter of time.
