General consensus is the 170F is the best option. 160F seems to be a little too low.Guess I need a thermostat! Thanks for all the reply’s. Has anyone tried the mishimoto 160 Degree?? Also any write ups to install it?
Your coolant temp DROPS when you go WOT?Max I get sometimes is about 210 F. This is in stop and go traffic or cruising at lower speeds.
When I'm WOT, the temp drops to about 200 ish
Compared to sitting in traffic, that's normal. Sitting in traffic temps rise with not much coolant flow or airflow. Once you go WOT you have more air flowing through the radiator and higher RPMs spin the water pump faster which will drop temps.Your coolant temp DROPS when you go WOT?
I mean, of course your temps will be lower when moving than when you're stationary. No one would argue that.Compared to sitting in traffic, that's normal. They do climb during WOT, but even to 160mph I've never had coolant or head temps reach what they do sitting in traffic. Trans temp however does.I mean, of course your temps will be lower when moving than when you're stationary. No one would argue that.
But when you go WOT, you can watch your coolant temps climb in the logs.
160 really isn't too low, it's actually what Whipple includes in their kits I believe. The problem with the 160 is that it doesn't flow as well or open as far as the Reische 170. So using the 170 will actually result in lower temps.General consensus is the 170F is the best option. 160F seems to be a little too low.
Yup same thing for me, all the extra airflow. They do climb during WOT, but even to 160mph I've never had coolant or head temps reach what they do sitting in traffic. Trans temp however does.
Yep. That's where mine sits. It was 80 out today. CHT was 195-198, coolant temp in center gauge said 185. Moves around a ltitle bit, but not much. I'd have to check my logs for exact numbers, but it does climb pretty fast when your wot through the gears. As expected. The reische 170 works!Quick update: I just completed my procharger stage 2 installation. Haven't driven it yet, but let it idle in the garage for 30 minutes with AC cranking. Cyl head temps maintained 192-198 degrees, and it was 112 degrees out when I was letting it idle. I can tell you for sure that this car NEVER ran this cool when bone stock, even in cooler ambient temps. So far it's thumbs up for the Reische 170 deg thermostat! I'll update tomorrow after I get the front end put back on the car and drive it around. Cheers!
