I'm curious about what causes this sound I'm hearing. On downshifts I hear what reminds me almost of a turbo diverter valve. I've even had passengers comment on it when the windows are down.

It's the auto 10.

It's mostly while just driving around at slow speeds and letting off the throttle. Given it's a stock 5.0 I know it's not a turbo blow off.

It could be the trans or something in the accessory belt system. I just hope Ford didn't add a fake BOV sound to the car, lol.

Mine does the same thing. It sounds like a slight whistle when the trans upshifts. Its been there since day one and after 7K miles is still there. No idea what causes it.

It all does sound amazing. I just wish I knew what it was mechanically.

Good thing is that its not a bad sound and neither is it so loud (to me) that it is a distraction or annoyance. I cannot hear it at all with the windows up. The road noise drown it away after 25-30mph speed anyway so I am not worried. Initially I thought its a belt sound (still could be), or something wrong with the car in general but having put 7K miles on it without a hitch makes me believe its all normal.

i think its normal i get a few sounds also when i drive with windows down. my goal is beat on it for a few thousand miles while stock and make sure its mostly solid. lol but no issues so far other than learning its behavior and hearing sounds.

I had it in track mode with windows down today. It made some nice downshift whistles.

My neighbors keep telling me to keep the car out of quite mode and give it a good rev too, lmao. Totally the opposite of what I was expecting.

Although I did some driving in quite mode today. It was kind of relaxing and made for a nice contrast. It was like driving a 1970's lux car.

I’ve got the whistle as well. Glad I’m not the only one. I’ll just consider it part of the beast until I hear differently.

I've heard this as well, interesting sound and it does sound a little like my previous blown Mustang while driving around town. Much quieter, but similar.

I have this slightly as well, although I could only barely hear it when my wife took the car to work and I happened to be standing outside.

I read about the 2017 F150s having a similar sound and it was traced back to the trans pump. They had the pump replaced and it took away most of the sound volume, however, the original pump had no signs of failure or wear. I personally will let mine go until it fails or gets worse because dealers mechs scare me.
