The OEM's look to certify across the board and not just for "strict" states. There's CARB certification and EPA certification.The trick will be getting this engine to pass emission tests in the strictest states – but with this information suggesting that this car will arrive in 2019 or 2020, the engineers have several years to work out the bugs.
I don't see that happening. I do like the fact that Pruitt and Co at the EPA are reconsidering the Final Determination that was ramrodded by the last EPA Administrator just before she went bye-bye.Hopefully Trump does his job and that emissions stuff goes away. CAFE needs to be rolled back as well.
