I would have no problem with Ford producing this vehicle........just don't use specific Mustang styling cues and DEFINITELY don't call it Mach 1.

The hybrid-Stang is already a lot for most Mustang enthusiasts to accept (or will be, when it arrives in a couple of years).....this is a step too far in my opinion.

Every time I see this thread has a new post, I still hold out hope that it'll have news of a true new Mach 1

I have no issue with Ford producing an all electric SUV. It's the future, I get it. And I hope it sells well and brings big profits for Ford.

However, that sort of car is at the other end of the spectrum for most Mustang buyers in terms of what we want, so why tie it into the Mustang name, whether that be in terms of looks or name?

I really hope Mach 1 just remains a project name. I'm pretty sure the majority of EV SUV wouldn't have a clue about the historical link Mach 1 has to the Mustang, so why use it? All you're going to do it alienate your Mustang fans.

Misleading.

According to early information from FordInsideNews.com C727 is the code name for the electric crossover (ā€œMach Oneā€) or at least for a Compact BEV. Donā€™t expect it to be remotely similar to a mustang, it should be closer to the focus in appareance but with a little higher ā€œground clearanceā€. It will be ā€œsportyā€ like the Mustang but thatā€™s it.

FWD? Really? Have any of you seen a FWD electric car? (Donā€™t answer, it was a rhetorical question. I have, like the Spark EV but thatā€™s not the point). If Ford wants to offer this EV as a ā€œmustang inspired carā€ it wonā€™t be FWD.

Personally, the further removed from the Mustang this is, the better ;)

But, yeah, a pretty misleading article

FordInsideNews used the name ā€œModel Eā€ for the Mach 1, maybe it ends up being ā€œFord Model Eā€.
Now that I can get behind!
THE reason why Tesla had to use Model 3. Ford would not let go of the trademark rights to Model E.

Tesla was going for Model S Model E Model X and Model Y. Elon, you nasty boy!
