This past weekend I helped @JohnAZ install his Trackspec center hood vent with hopes of battling the blazing Arizona temps for our HPDE events. The install went smoothy albeit some nervousness and sweaty hands from cutting such a huge hole in the hood. At the end, it came out looking great!

We decided to head out for a cruise up Mt. Lemmon to see the vent in action and take some pictures as the sun was setting.

Enjoy!

Vent came out better than I had hoped...lets out a ton of heat, stopped the hood from rattling on the highway, and looks sweet to top it off!

Any shots of the underside?
Yup. Underneath the hood relief cuts need to be made in the lower skin for the support brackets of the vent, but otherwise it is fairly clean looking. I ended up putting the hood liner back on and trimmed off just enough to uncover the vent. I also didn't like how the rear louver was sagging so I drilled two extra holes in the support bracket so I can add additional rivets to bring the rear louver up to be more flush.

I am getting closer to adding the center vent to my side vents. I would have to fab up a deflector so make water run in front of the motor when washing or raining.

I plan to do the same, hopefully sometime soon before monsoon season hits.

How was AMP?

HHHOOOTTTT, lol. I forgot how much I love that track. It was fun to slide around again. Running both directions was fun as I have never gone CCW. Had a couple students move up in HPDE groups and took first in both days of Time Attack. I had a first, had the sticky wheel weights fall off! A couple were missing when I came back in the pits and then others fell off as I was sitting next to the car after the session. My windshield is also now completely destroyed.

Nice! Ironically enough I literally just got back from the tire shop to get one of my wheels rebalanced as the wheel weights were on the brink of flying off from my last AMP outing. I’m going to put some foil tape over all the weights to hopefully keep them in place for future outings.

AMP has become one of my favorite tracks, although I love them all. I haven’t had the pleasure of running CCW, hopefully one day. Sounds like fun. The heat is getting out of control. Indie will probably be my last track day until September. Hopefully I will see you at the track next season!

I saw Albert and John’s vents at work at INDE last week. They were releasing all sorts of heat after their session. They look great too.
