Why is there such a great difference between S197 and S550 torque specs? The S197 states 100 pounds, and the S550 states 150 pounds. Trying to remember all of these different specs must be a nightmare for tire change centers. I know I need to right this down so I won't forget.

S550 has bigger studs and bigger lug nuts so they get torqued down more.

back many years ago I installed American Racing aluminum wheels on a GM product. The recommended torque spec from GM was 70 ft/lbs for the steel wheels. The American Racing spec was 50 ft/lbs. I believe the difference has to due with not only the specs of the wheel studs but also the hardness of the aluminum used in the aftermarket wheel. Too much torque could gouge the wheel.
