So im pretty set on my first choice of a GT PP2, however, im test driving a gt350 tomorrow. Being that the gt i have built how i want comes in at $50,180 and the asking price of the GT350 is $58,300 i figured id try to see which would be a better buy.

Now, im sure most people will say get the gt350! but ive been hearing quite a few complaints about the car overheating, transmission, or issues with the vibrations. I have not yet driven one and have no idea how the livability is with this car. Definitely would like to hear any input from people who either own, or have owned one vs a standard GT. I also have a very attractive price negotiated on the GT and not sure how much room they give with a Shelby.

Lastly, aftermarket for each car, how is the shelby compared to a 5.0?

Daily drive more than likely. I would like to mod it over time, starting with headers/exhaust first probably.

Is there any way you can talk the dealer down from 58K? I'm inclined to go with the GT350 if you dont plan to add a super charger to it in the future.

Also the resale is going to be better on a Shelby.

Well I just bought a 18 gt 10 speed and used to have a 17 before it got wrecked. So I can only compare it to the previous gen 5.0 . If you’re a tech guy the gauges in the 18 are amazing . The engine makes great power and a lot think it’s under rated by ford . With e85 and tune 460ish to tires.

For me I mod the crap of my cars . Air suspension and a ton of exterior stuff . To me a gt350 isn’t something I would customize all to much . I see it as more of a track tool

What year is the GT350? No over heating issues if a 2017 or newer. Some 15s and 16 tech pack cars don't have all of the coolers thus they over heat. That is mainly on the track though no real issues DD a tech GT350. Guessing it's a newer GT350 at the price.

The GT350 is an awesome car. I sold my GT350 and got my 18 Mustang GT base model ($30,xxx out the door). I wanted the A10 and I want to mod the GT. I was never going to mod the GT350 and I felt the car at that price point was a waste of money for me. I had the car for one year and put 5,000ish miles on the car. An absolute blast to drive.

From someone who has owned both, I have zero regrets about selling the GT350. I have enjoyed the GT and the mods thus far.

The GT350 is a lot more car but you pay for that. Once I am done modding my GT, the performance gap will be narrowed as far as handling. My GT will be a much better 0-60 and 1/4 mile car than the GT350 which is what I am more interested in. I'm sure if I dumped a lot more money into the GT, the handling gap would be minimal but I don't care about tracking the car as much as I do 1/4 mile fun.

So, if you want a track beast special and fun car, the GT350. If you want to spend less money and mod the car, the GT.

Exactly why i like the 18+, i had a 15 and traded in now im getting back into a mustang that im keeping for a long time. I love the comfort and the new gauges are awesome looking. I live in Cincinnati and take a yearly trip to Daytona for the Rolex 24. In the 15, it was great but with the Shelby having the recaro's idk about long distance driving. I prefer more track setup than drag/straightline although im sure i would on occasion. I also like the updates to the 5.0 gtpp2. Biggest thing is going to come down to price, depending on what the OTD price is on the shelby vs what i already have for the gt

This is what i want to hear, people who have experienced both. The shelby im looking at currently is an 18. Has the tech package which is nice, but i feel the 18/19 would be more comfort for daily and longer trips.

If i dont get the shelby, i would be getting a PP2 car which helps bridge the gap in handling. It also seems like better or more aftermarket for the 5.0's

The GT350 doesn’t hit 320 lb-ft torque until 4500 rpm max torque 375 lb-with a red line 8250..bottom dyno
The 18 GT hits 350 lb-ft torque @ 2500.max torque at 420 lb-ft with a red line 7500.
Around town the 18 will feel a lot faster. Now if all you want is a track car get the 17 350.
The 18 gt engine is like the torque curve of the Z/28. But revs higher.

I also owned a 16 350 track pack 2 years ago and had it for 6 months.sold it for $57K ( dog on the street )
I’ve driven a 18 GT and it’s a street brawler especially with the A10. For a experienced driver the manual works just fine.
You can get $7K discounts on 18’s GT’s with out breaking a sweat.

Do you plan on paying list price?

No, depending on how much lower they come in will be a big factor. Its a different car than just the 5.0 so really depends on their bottom price vs value as opposed to the car ive built and priced.

Around here, they won't budge off MSRP for a 350. I'd do the GT and w/ the extra $8-10K, put a blower on it.
