How good are msc2's as a drag tire? Serious question.
Not particularly good for it. Due to their construction (compound and geometry), most R comp's are very "peaky" in nature. The 350R front tire (which this is) behaves very much like this as it's a pretty aggressive R comp.

Generally speaking, very short and stiff sidewalls along with a very soft compound usually results in a tire that sticks or spins, without much middle ground.

4 axles in 5 months... :frusty:
I went thru an axle, input shaft, and 3 clutches before I hung it up in my old SRT-4. I stick to autos now..

We'll get smoked lol unless they burn out all of 1st gear.
Yeah, if Evan ran a 12.20 w/ stock M6, than maybe with a DR it'd be a closer fight (if willing to leave some parts on the line, as BlueBeast said).

For me, the PP2 will spend more time carving corners, so a DR isn't ideal...looks like the beer fund will have to be reallocated towards a Whipple if I want to pull A10s down. It's gonna be a thirsty summer....

Not ALL car manuals/components are that weak and I too had/raced a modded SRT4 (fun little car). MK7 GTI clutch could barely hold stock power :rant:

No doubt the auto is generally the way to go these days if drag racing is the priority. I get it.

Still running mine. Doing the E85 conversion next week. :headbang:
I would have kept my skittle for sure. Such a fun car. Accident killed it. I had 27k tied up in that car and it would give today's modded V8s a run for their money.

Upgraded axles and slicks are a must if you want to drag a manual.

12.7@113 in a 301a non PP car. 1.99 60'. It would launch harder, but I'm afraid to break it. The 2018 really needs a better gear. I was shifting into 4th with less than 100 feet left

Nice run, got a timeslip or other pertinent details? Like 60ft, 1/8 mph, da for the track?
Negative, Prior to mods in sig.

2.2 60'
8.3 @ 90mph 1/8

Unsure of DA that night, Brandeton Motorsports park, on the 12th of May, around 80 Degrees out at the time of pass, and humid as hell lol.

I think a stock manual on slicks would smoke a stock auto even on drag radials. A manual should easily cut a 1.6 sixty stock on slicks compared to a 1.8 stock auto.:ninja:

You sure as hell did way better than I did. I took mine down to MIR yesterday to try my hand at it. It's been many years since I went regularly, and it showed. I was never great at it, but yesterday I was down right terrible. I could not get a good feel for the clutch getting out of the hole and my best 60' of the night was 2.5 as a result. I kept bogging the hell out of it.

I was trapping 110/111, which was right in line with my friends 2018 A10 car, although he was running mid 12's. Not sure what the DA was, but I doubt it was good, the weather was kinda nasty.

You guys using launch control or going raw dog on your launches?
Funny you ask that. So I noticed after a few passes that in drag mode LC was active. I've never tried it before, and I didn't want a prepped track surface to be the first place I did. The 18 definitely needs a fair bit more RPM to get off the line clean than my 16GT did though. I made a few passes in my 16GT PP car and leaving around 2k rpm was getting me 2.1/2.2 60' on all season tires.

Same RPM in my 18GT had the car falling flat on its face. My last pass I was closer to 3k rpm and cut a 2.5. I think 3500 may have been more appropriate but I got eliminated on that pass so I didn't get another shot.

The other thing I noticed is the gab point on the clutch moves. Once you've wound the car up it goes from grabbing near the floor, to towards the top of the travel. And doesn't go back to gabbing near the floor again until after another "normal" shift. That threw me for a loop on every single run.
