Another successful Laguna Seca trackday! Gorgeous weather with a great group of drivers.

A big shout out goes to Kelly BMR Tech for being the one and only to get linear springs made for our cars. After tuning the shocks with the DSC controller, the front end of this car is planted. no more floating!

I believe there were 2 or 3 other track pack owners which were tearing it up.

I wanted to comment on my tire usage. I believe I’m one of the few that has run the Pirelli take offs and now the Continental take offs.

For one the Continentals last far longer than the Pirellis. Laguna is known to ruin tires and I still have plenty of tread. They also don’t like to be pushed at the limit. Once they grease over you need to do a cool down or end the session.

However the Pirellis are faster. At Laguna they are a solid 2 seconds faster. The Pirellis lasted a good 8-10 sessions before cording and cycling out. I know the Continentals could last 12 to 15 sessions without an issue.

Another thing to mention is that the Continentals do not need as much camber as the Pirellis.

Once I go through my stock pile,I will be going back to the Pirellis.

Onto the pics!

Looks like such a fun track. A couple buddies made it out today all the way from OK. Both White w/ blue stripes one '16 trk pkg and the other a '17. I'm jealous.

Where do you pick up the Pirelli's?

Thanks for the comparison feedback. How did you end up passing sound?

Those were the guys I saw then! That’s quite far.

I use usedracingtires.com

I won’t buy new tires anymore for tracktime. They are faster than anything you can buy new and are cheaper if you buy in bulk.

I’ve also used jbracing but he’s a bit of an ass.

Ofcourse, I also just found out that I was running the G5000 model which is an endurance tire and slower than a r7. I have another set of g5500 which I will try at Laguna again in 2 weeks. I will report back with my findings. The difference is visually other than the g5000 or g5500 stamp is that the g5500 is yellow letters with black background and g5000 is reverse.

I put the car in track mode and then turn the valves closed.

Then I short shift into 4th at the sound tour and I’m good.

I’m going to try to get a new setup going which I hope to make available to all of you. It will manually override the valves.

Any idea what sound level you're registering? Trying to determine track possibilities with stock exhaust.

I know with the valves forced closed it’s under 92db. Open is another story.

That’s 92db at 60/70mph. I find that the car is quieter the as you go faster.

Any idea about the reading when valves are open...the other story? Looking at running 92db and 95db tracks nearby.

Well over 100 dB. If you want to have a drama free day get the grim speed exhaust resistors. However the car will feel down on power.

I hit 100.4db when trying to go all out past the sound booth. Stock exhaust besides a resonator delete. Jump to around 6:30 in this video. I got black flagged before I even hit the Corckscrew :D

I did the same thing on the last lap of my last session and all I got was a disapproving head shake. I'm a little hurt :D
