Sorry if this has been asked over and over, my search netted strange results. I'm looking at removing the resonator and installing the Ford Performance X pipe. It looks like a decent deal for the money.

I guess this is for any x-pipe install, has anybody noticed drone or does it just increase tone. I've watched videos but everybody does it to the cars with active exhaust, I want to hear it with the standard exhaust.

Go figure, 10 seconds later I find it, not the Ford X-pipe but how much can they differ.

Slight increase in volume and tone, but absolutely 0 extra drone...at least on the stock mufflers. Drone is mainly dependent on mufflers, so if they have drone before then they will have drone after the x pipe and vice versa.

It would just amplify whatever drone is already present in your system from my experience.

I do want to say the Steeda x-pipe is the best value though, less than $125 shipped to you! $100 less than the Ford Performance option unless you're getting a deal on a used one I guess.

Just the replacing the middle section with an x or h pipe adds a little volume but not much. Its not until you change the mufflers where you would see a huge increase in drone/sound.

I went with an H-pipe at first but did not like the tone. It increased volume a little (a good bit on cold start up) but it also increased the raspy aspect. I did not want to leave it like that so I immediately ordered the magnaflow resonated xpipe. This got the tone back to what I liked but made it a bit too quiet. I added the Roush axleback and now the tone and volume are just about perfect.

Don't do it unless you like rasp.... ;)

I'd change mufflers and leave the resonator myself.

:eyebulge:

Dayum!! Ordering that one for sure, thankfully right now there is zero drone. At 65 mph the damn car is damn near silent inside.

After listening to the video from CJ's I think the delete will suffice, he didn't get much of that raspiness from it. The active exhaust however definitely does with the delete. It's an inexpensive item from Steeda so I'm going to give it a shot.

^ that was exactly why I did go ahead and try it. $225? Nah. $125? Sure I'll give it a shot and if I don't like it $100 is an easy asking price on classified without losing much.

Exactly, that is one hell of a good price and unusual in this market. Can't hurt trying it! My best friend needs to free up his garage when it comes in so I can install it. :D

My 18 is the base model mufflers with an x pipe. It sounds awesome. Much better than my 15 with same set up!!
