Definitely the 2.97. Not sure you will even be happy then with a 3.31 rear! I had 3.73's and they barely worked. Stepped up to the 4.09's and they work great. With the 4.09's it is about the same as a MT82 car with 3.31's.

I also went with the 2.97 and 4.09 gear combination. I loved it NA with the CJ, but have yet to run it with the Whipple.

I would say depends on the type of driving you do. I imagine even with the 2.66 and 3.31 gears your Whipple would put down more than enough torque to make it fun on the street.

For an all out drag car (or NA/centri setups) it's all about gearing so 2.97 for sure. For a street car with a twin screw 2.66 would be more than fine.

The problem is taking off and stalling it. When I had my 3.73 and the Tremec, it was just hard to take off without over-reving, I was NA, but I would think this would still apply.

One I think the addition of a Whipple will help with that. Also, I can start in 2nd gear just fine and only bring up the RPMs to about 1000-1200 and it starts going. Maybe you were on a hill when you were having a tough time taking off without over reving because even a 2.66 first gear Tremec has more pulling power than a 2.43 second gear Getrag.

A perfect example is the 13-14 GT500s, they have a 2.66 Tremec with 3.73 gears and I don't think I've seen anyone complain that they have issues starting from stock. I've driven my friend's car and I could get going on flat roads without even giving it gas...all I did was just slip the clutch slowly and it would go.

I would agree that a Tremec and 3.73 gears is a bit too much (or too little gear) for an NA car, but for a whipple setup that would not be the case.

Thank you for the great info and experience. I will def give it a thought. Thank you so much.
