2020 Lincoln Corsair

I was told by a very credible source that for the 2020 model year, the newly refreshed 2019 Lincoln MKC will become the Lincoln Corsair.

I presume the name is a tribute to the very formidable USN/USMC F4U Corsair fighter plane that was flown with great distinction and success during both WWII and the Korean Conflict.

I like it. I don't care for "letter names" for Lincolns. MKZ, MKX, MKT... can't remember what is what.

Cadillac would also do well to get rid of the stupid alphanumeric "names" and go back to real names. The only one that pops immediately to mind is Escalade.

Don't forget the Edsel tie-in, or that Ford had built a few models named Corsair in Europe and Australia! That said, I prefer the fighter plane tie-in myself as none of those cars was particularly memorable.

Clarification...
According to Automotive News 6/18/18:
The Corsair will go on sale in 2020, as a 2021 model.
And...Ford reserves the right to rename the vehicle before it goes into production.
