Thinking about going to a built shortblock and curious what my

You can buy a brand new short block for $5,500. So assume a low mile used short block would be $4500-5000. And a high mile engine would be a thousand less.

I'm going to say around $1500. A few years back I sold a low mile (19,000) shortblock out of my '05 and I pretty much had to settle on $1000. That was the going rate at the time.

Wow. They get a little cheaper and coyote swaps will be the mod of the day. For every old ford.

Yeah I'd figure around $1500 or so for a shortblock. Longblock I'd guess around $3500-$4000.

not even close to as good as a coyote the 3v for sure isnt.

demand is wayy better on a coyote than a 3v though

Actually they are very similar, 3 valve block alone is good to about 1000 hp which is similar to a coyote. They both have crap for internals for anything boosted. I did say my 3 valve block was sold for 1k a few years ago which lends to reason the coyote being more in demand should go for about $1500. The main difference between the 2 is the heads and displacement, not much more.

I agree, they share nothing. Granted, the coyote's internals can handle more power, but the blocks are both excellent to start a build.

Agree, $1500 is what you could get for a low miles, excellent mechanical condition 2016 shortblock

I think the $5500 you mentioned might have been for the Aluminator shortblock, which is quite different than the OEM one.

I see OEM Gen 2 longblocks going for $5700 to $6300, so I can't imagine that just the short block was ever $5500.

Just thinking out loud....

Sell my 5500 mile longblock for $5000 or so...pick up one of those Aluminator 5.2XS engines for $15900.

Nah...still to much.

Not even a single word to offer huh? The '05 -up blocks were considered the best aluminum modular blocks of all previous offerings. Coyote blocks were the next step in achievement and still needs to be sleeved once you break 1000 hp.
