Today during a WOT pull in 4th the car nosed over and stopped pulling. No codes. Whenever I or computer would shift into 4th the RPMs would bounce as if I was doing quick revs between 2 and 3k but car does not gain any speed. I was able to make it home using 3rd and at times manually shifting 1st, 2nd and 3rd but keeping it out of 4th. No weird noises or grinds. Wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, converter or 4th gear problem? Procharged car. Thanks

When my torque converter broke the car would stall as soon as I put it in gear. I guess the symptoms could be different depending on the car though.

I would take a log of it in 4th and send it to your tuner, see if they can tell you anything.

Yea mine did the same thing when my.convertor broke,if it was your convertor i think.u would have problems with more then just 4th gear.My car drove but if i gave it too much throttle it would just go to neutral. It did shift but the convertor was locked all the time.

No i did not any dtc's and u dont need forscan to read trans codes. The pcm and tcm are the same computer. It is possible to have a code and not set the cel light on,i would hook.a scan.tool.up.and see if anything is in the pcm.

If anyone wants to see it its here

https://datazap.me/u/solarflare/log-1524744458

im slowly cruising in 3rd and when it commands 4th the rpms get all bouncy and ends up at like 2300ish rpm and i let off. Then I turn around and in 1st it wouldnt go into 2nd the rest of the short drive.

I think i would try to get a little better scan tool and see if their is any vin specific codes in.the pcm.It could be mechanical or a electrical/sensor problem.

When my stock converter failed at 720whp I was in 3rd at the track car bucked hard and free revved... once I got it stopped it would not move only rev and made terrible noises in gear.

I had no codes when my converter failed. I don't think the converter is your problem.

Thanks guys. Def seems like clutches in the trans. But if it’s coming down it only makes sense to put a converter on it unless Circle Ds turnaround times are out of hand.

Yeah if the trans is already out you're best off putting in a Circle D, Exedy clutches and a billet intermediate shaft.

Circle D has about a two week turn around.

Found a couple low mile 6R80s coming out of parted out 15-17 GTs. Guy on Facebook, he’s in Europe, saying that I should be careful because there are valve body differences between 6r80s and one of his friend lost the paddles function from putting another stock 6r80 into his car. Anyone know if this is true? I can see this maybe if you try to use an f150 or s197 6r80...but using another stock 15-17 6r80?? Can anyone confirm this?

Thinking of going this route because it’s a trusted friend of a friend. Trans are low mile and I can have the car back on the road next week
