i have been looking into purchasing fords stage 1 package, but i have read that people have had problems with it, mainly a pinging noise. what is causing this and how can you remedy this? any other problems that people have discovered after installing the stage 1 package?

thanks

Go Stage 2, no need for Stage 1.
Other than the fact that the Stage 2 is $729 and the Stage 1 is only $399, the Stage 2 only gives you 3-7 more HP/FTLB than the Stage 1 at 26/30 vs 19/23, Stage 1 is a faster install and leaves no outward signs of being there, some people don't want a to use an intake that kinda fits when you cut some slots and stick a piece of foam in the corner...

Ordered a stage 2 from True Blue Racing Parts for $603 shipped, so for only another $200 you get a CIA and throttle body. It seems like a great deal and I just wanted more in the box. :headbang:

The only time you will have pinging is if you do not run QUALITY 91+ octane, or have a bunch of oil in the intake, which is remedied by an air/oil seperator.

I have put 20k miles on my s550 w/the M-9603-M8 kit and have had zero issues.

Did you happen to go to the drag strip before and will go after? I am interested in the MPH difference in the 1/4 mile.

I have the PP1 waiting for installation, spring can't get here soon enough!

I think either are worth it, I hate the GT350 intake - I had it with the power pack for my 16 EB so I did the PP1 and it made such a huge change to the way the car drives, I really wish it came like that originally.

Keeping the warranty is a big bonus as well, and since I can't get E85 near me I see no real reason to void the warranty for an aftermarket tune that won't net me all that much more gains.
