I don't think this has been done before but would it be possible to modify the dome light box to add a toggle switch? Would it cause any codes/warnings to be thrown?

Going by photos I've seen it looks like one could drill a small hole for a toggle switch and wire it up to the lights to make a cut off switch.

It's been done.
A few members have added switches for grille lighting and auxiliary interior lighting.
A quick search should find them.

Thanks! I did try to Google but came up empty. I'll see if I can look them up.

I was also thinking of adding in full time red nighights.

This could be a good aftermarket item if anyone wanted to sell it.

I probably wasn't clear in my original post but the switch I want to add is for preventing the dome lights from automatically turning on.

Would the red line (black/yellow wire) be the best place splice in an override switch?

I see people mentioning the LED replacement bulbs have a slight glow when off which makes me think these bulbs may be monitored.
