Hello all. I have for sale a pair of US tail lights from the 50th Anniversary model with chrome accents (I had two pairs of lights but have since sold one set). These were very hard to find.
50th Anniversary pair: $1400
- NO plugs (need to reuse your AU plugs from your original lights)
- 2 wires wire-tapped (needed to function correctly)
- Need to reuse your existing top shrouds and 3 screw nuts.
Condition: Good. The left hand light has a chip along the black plastic (as per second pic). There are no chips or cracks in the lens. The right hand light is in Excellent condition.
Points to note:
- These are not ADR approved as there is no amber turn signal - use at your own risk. However I have already driven with these in VIC for 12 months and the police have never pulled me up on them (even with a police car sitting behind me at the lights with my sequential indicators going).
- Without a sequencer add-on the lighting will behave the same way as the AU-spec vehicle.
- There is hyperflash when indicating without pressing the brake pedal. This is due to US tail lights receiving a different load signal from the US BCM. When you press the brake pedal this adds electrical resistance (from lighting the brake lights) and the hyperflash will stop until you release the brake again. Hyperflash only affects the interior blinking on the dashboard - externally the lights behave normally.
- The hyperflash issue can be remedied by disabling the tail lamp out error-checking in the BCM via the OBD.

My personal opinion regarding the look of the red lens is that the genuine article from the US is much better in person close up when compared to a red tail light tint / film. I think red tint looks dull comparative to the US red lens plastic and was hestitant to put an inexpensive tail light tint on my vehicle.
