R Model allocation

I hope this isn't too tired of a conversation but....I have a deposit on an allocated R Model (at least the dealer has lead me to believe it is allocated). I have read on this forum of some that were also believing that they had an R model "locked up" only to find that there actually was no allocation to begin with. Some have suggested to get a letter from the regional Ford rep or see a note where the dealer was awarded the allocation.
I do NOT have a VIN yet.....so I am kind of at the mercy of the dealer's understanding and honesty. I am asking if anyone on this forum has an example of what such a letter or confirmation might look like. I am intending on visiting the dealer soon and would love to have an example of the type of documentation that I would like him to produce.

Do you have at least have a DORA from them?

A DORA is Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgment... Ford is basically telling the dealer they received the order. Again, no guarantee of anything until the order status changes to "Submitted to Plant" which is Ford telling the factory to schedule it.

YES like Bossing says, a DORA will show the model on it.

I'd love to tell you something positive, but if you haven't been actively hearing from the dealer and no VIN at this time...

I would absolutely talk to the GM and ask them to confirm they have an allocation.

Ask you dealer for a copy, printout, or screenshot of the DORA. You have the right to view/have a copy. And also since you have an order no., call Ford Performance to follow-up to see if any progress has been made. 1-800-367-3788... ext. 1

I had all that. Now I have a 350...

I originally had the intent to buy a 350, it's when my dealer offered the R to me I jumped on it. Then finally after about what 7-8 months and no forward progress from DORA and order and still no VIN I just went straight to the owner and that's when they were finally told no R allocation for 16. Maybe one for 17, and yes they did get 3 350s for 16.

Still a little miffed, but I forget every time I drive my car.

I hope others don't run into the same issue. I was promised if I want one for 17 they can get it, but I'll probably swap out my raptor at that time for a new one provided they release the SCREW early on.

And really, as my wife states every time I bring something up about the R, the comfort and quiet of the 350 as a tourer is really more what I was after versus full on race car all the time.
