UPDATE:
user Dennis_ from Netherland made a great vinyl kit for our EU Mustangs, in glossy deep red vinyl, that is a very close match to the US taillights color.
You can find more info about how to get that in THIS POST
and nice pictures in posts starting from HERE
I started this installation some weeks ago but I haven't found the time to create a new thread.
Do you guys remember, during the months of wait for our cars, that me and some others bother continuosly about the clear tail lights? Well, I'm going the "vinyl kit" way to try solve this 'issue'.
Well, five days before taking my car home I ordered from Anchor-Room a special vinyl kit to made my Mustang more 'American':
- RED vinyl for taillights
- RED vinyl for rear side marker lights
And while I'm ordering, I added some more:
- black (20%) vinyl kit for reverse light
- black (20%) vinyl kit for Mirror Marker Lights
- black (20%) vinyl kit for 3rd Brake Light
- black (20%) vinyl kit for Headlight Amber Corners
- a felt-tip squeegee
The red ones are needed to get rid of those ugly* clear tail lights and those horrible amber side markers (from a distance it seems like a truck), the black ones are only for trying if they looks good!
I prepared all the stuff needed (hot air gun, a sprayer with water and one with soapy water, squegee and microfiber cloth) and at first I installed the side markers, just to practice a bit.
Man, they look incredible! Seems like the real red ones!
Then I started installing the tail lights.
BEFORE:
(camera didin't like these led lights!)
Right installed! Showing you the differences with one clear and one red:
Vinyl is not glossy like the real red taillights, but the effect is very nice
Finally during the day they don't seem pink anymore! :clap2:
Turning lights are only a bit dimmed but since they are very bright, it's not a problem
Waited the night to see differences with low\no light:
No differences for parking lights
As before, turning light is a bit dimmed, but is very bright!
Finally, at late night, job done
In my opinion this is a big improvement in appearance, it seems more 'american'
* actually after some days I was not so disgusted by the clear taillights, but still prefer the red ones
