I would strongly recommend have them match the fender not blend because you will end up three messed up panels instead of one if they don't match the paint properly.
I know very little about this stuff, but is your comment applicable for a fender replacement? I'm assuming they're getting a primed OEM fender and just spraying it from scratch.

Yes they get OEM fender and paint to match. What I am saying is it's always easier to repaint the fender to match the rest of the car. If they blend the door and both of them don't match, it's a pain in the ass.

It's already a pain in my ass, that's for sure. I'm going to do the 25' test and see how it is.

Definitely a fender R&R job, not a big deal.

Not sure I agree with the Magnetic vs. Ingot matching though. Having done some paint work in my past life, I personally would rather have to match the silver. I almost passed on Magnetic since my paranoia was telling me to go Ingot.....

As said elsewhere, gun adjustments and such will be critical.

Are these metallic paints even worth it with the challenge of repairs? Seems a bit nuts to engineer in difficulties. I guess the shine is worth it... but maybe it'd be better to have a flat paint with gobs more clearcoat.

I'm just gonna have to trust the stealership and see how it comes out. If it's horrific I'm assuming I can call my insurance and have a fit?

All paint is hard to match except black I think.
But Magnetic is so nice looking when the sun is out.

Keep that thing looking pristine! Don't park it anywhere crazy, like your parents' huge driveway.
