This was missing when I picked up the car last weekend. The dealer is finding out when they can get the part and how long to install. I imagine it just snaps in there. I was almost in disbelief. So much for quality control!

To the OP that really sucks, how did no one notice that before you picked it up?

I hope you get your car back and fixed on Friday.

Yeah, I didn't even notice it until I got home and pulled in the garage. I was so consumed with checking everything else that I overlooked it.

OP, sorry you're missing a trim panel from your interior, but come on, it could be worse. They'll order it, snap it in, and you'll be good. It isn't the end of the world. Look around the forum. People have transmissions grenading. LE cars built with regular front bumpers. Manual cars built with paddle shifters on the wheel. Body panel paint and alignment issues - dealers have had to repaint customer vehicles to fix factory defects! That's a hit on resale value!

In my opinion your issue is insignificant. I wouldn't all pile on activeGT for being a dick, he has a point - I think you are being dramatic. "I was almost in disbelief" - well, I sure hope your "almost" is very, very far away from literally being in disbelief. These are mass produced vehicles. Little problems like this are going to happen with any automaker. Especially on a first year car.

Relax, grab a beer, let them pop in the panel for you and enjoy your car.

Um ok. Yeah, thanks for the talk! I'm not concerned with getting it fixed, just was a little amused by the whole thing.

I don't Scott was being dramatic, simply sharing his experience.

Look, if I had gotten home and part of my car was missing I'd be in disbelief as well that it made it that far with it off. Not upset, but definitely an amused disbelief. (I wasn't, however amused when I drove my car off the lot with a non-functioning A/C compressor. Not upset, not amused, but definitely disappointed).

Does the ambient lighting in the door handle area work without the trim piece?

There is a saying in the Military and inn the Defense industry, "If there is a perceived problem, there is a problem" and the perceived problem here is that Ford's QA/QC is not up to snuff, and their assemblers don't pay attention to detail! :tsk:

The Dealer pulled the piece off one of his in stock cars and put it in mine. Ford told him it would be a couple months before the piece came in and he didn't want me to wait.

That piece was missing on my new Mustang as well, on passenger door....I didn't order, but bought model dealer had on lot and noticed the missing piece a couple days later...Dealer ordered over 2 weeks ago - I was told it was on back order and could be in, any day.
