What size tires are you running? I’ve got some forgestar f14s that I bought used with nitto nt555 g2s that I’m gonna need to replace soon. They’re 285/35/19 in the front and 305/35/19 in the rear. Now I’m pretty stupid when it comes to tires, but it seems like the nittos I’ve got on there fit really well. However, I’ve seen a couple of mentions on this forum that 305 is too wide for a 10in wheel.

I’m thinking of picking up some Michelin Pilot super sports in the exact same specs I have on the nittos. What are your thoughts, people who know more about tires than me.

Can do 275 all the way around or 285 all the way around. Can also do 275 up front and 295 in the rear. I wouldn’t do 305 on a 10” wheel, it’s a bit wide for that wheel.

What makes it too wide? What would be the risk of running a 305 on a 10in wheel?

It’s just not an optimal fit. The tire will have some bulge to it, you’ll lose some feel and if it’s too wide the tire could slip on the wheel. Depending on the tire you go with, some manufacturers might even say the minimum wheel width is wider than 10” and a tire shop won’t mount it.

Look up the tire you’re looking at and look at the specs. The measured rim width is the optimal wheel width for that particular tire based on the manufacturer testing and design. Here’s the Continental Extreme Contact Sport02 as an example, 11” is the measured rim width for their 305/35/19. 10” is the bare minimum but I wouldn’t run a 305 on a 10” wheel for the reasons I stated above

9 1/2" 255R40 19 Front - 10" 275R40 19 Rear on the Darkhorse Base.
Same as GT Performance Pack Tires on 9" Front - 9 1/2" Rear, which is what I have.

Rims on the Darkhorse Rear and GT Rear have a 52.8mm offset, which pushes the 10" wheel out 1/4" more in the wheel well. Also 1/4" more Tire on the inside of the wheel well. Don't know if they're using the same Rear Knuckle Geometry. The newer Darkhorse 10" Wheel does give you about a quarter inch more clearance on the Rear Calipers than the GT Wheels. Don't have any info on the Newer GTs. Just speaking of the 2015/16/17 Wheels.
