I think you are making that shit up!

I used to enjoy (motor)cycling, I'm still a DIYer and as for speeding BMWs have a bad reputation so we have to be on good behavior.... especially around here. Plus, I'm 80 years old, so I don't drive real fast anymore. When I was younger, I was on Wisconsin's Habitual Offenders list for speeding. I have never seen Top Gear. British TV personalities seem overly silly and dramatic.
FYI, I did make fun of the Z4. But we rented the same car on Turo for a trip to Sedona, and it was an absolute riot. It's a pretty perfect GT car. Soft enough to be comfortable, but stiff enough to enjoy curvy roads without the fear of sudden, catastrophic loss of control. And it can easily hold 1 suitcase.

I've been told it will hold a suitcase and golf bats too, but I don't play that activity.

Removing the turn signals from the Z4 is done to save weight. It's just another one of those electronic gadgets that take forever to figure out how to use.

Eh, who cares?

I wouldn't mind having a new M40i. Still traps 115-117mph in the quarter and will do 1g on the skidpad bone stock.

I can live with that. Most of this forum is living with those numbers in their own S550. lol
I get a lot of crap about the Z4, but it's all in jest! I'd still have my Mustang GT, but the seats were bad for my back. BMW has much better seats for me, and the Z4 is a blast! Of course, in keeping with the topic, I had to add a plugin tuner for some extra boost and more power! :sunglasses:

1000whp daily and I use most all of it. It takes a lot of parts to make it all work though. There's compromises along the way too. Decide how you really want to use the car and then decide how much time, energy and money you want to spend to get it there.

There's never to much in my opinion. Ever.

That's why I have a Nitrous Picnic table. :cwl:

Sometimes I really wonder if it’s just me. Or maybe it’s just the mentality of true car guys. But I have a hard time being satisfied with what I have. An S550 GT is probably as perfect for most people as a street car gets. In fact, it’s probably more car than I and most have the ability to fully use on the street, and I don’t do track. But, I now also have two Mach 1s and I’m even eyeballing GT500s.

I‘m a logical and reasonable guy so this makes no sense even to me. Seems like if something is out there I want it whether I need and can use it or not. And no, the problem is not what you’re thinking. But it is real.

Anybody else ever deal with this?

Hmmm, maybe just a little FI on one of the Machs…
Yea, after many WOT trips on my car. I should have learned with the off road excursion cost me +$4000. I still do it. Nothing like hit in the red line 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. State Farm must be tracking me. Carry on, be safe.

That’s what she said!

it takes a lot of tire and suspension setup to make power hook on the street. 👍🏻

No it is completely stock. I think the stock Pzero Nero tires got me a bit scared with this car. I have Continental DW06+ on it now and they are far better and I think I just need to trust them more.

And if not even going WOT is fast enough then anything faster for me would just be for better part throttle racing….. or bragging rights.

But I can see the desire for a GT 500 it is an amazing car.
I agree on the stock Pirellis. Once they wear out, I'll look for something that bites better for the size. I thought about getting some all-season snow capable tires but couldn't find any in the size (guess none are rated for speed so they don't come up), besides I don't think I'll drive it in the winter snow anyway since they use salt here on the roads.

What size you looking for on snow tires? I run the stock size (235/50r18) Bridgestone Blizzak WS90. Michelin, Conti, Nokian all make snow tires in our size and speed rating also. There’s probably others too but those are the better ones.

Our winters thus far isn't so bad that I need the Blizzak or dedicated snow tires. I was looking for something like the Firestone Weathergrip or Bridgestone Weatherpeak that are "all-season" but are 3peak snow rated which have mileage warranties. But they don't make the size a base GT uses (at least I didn't find it listed on either the Firestone site nor on Tirerack.com. Of course, the Firestone site is useless to me anyway since Firestone just closed the last store in Utah and I don't intend to drive to Colorado just to get tires. I did find some Toyo snow tires (studless) but I have to check on the ratings. I did have Toyo studded tires when I used to live in Oregon and though it was good, it was on an Accord LXi so huge difference in power (not to mention it's FWD). Since they salt the roads here I guess I could just leave it in the garage in winter and not worry about getting winter tires for it. Besides, I kind of hate the idea of having to wash down the underchassis before parking it in the garage if I did take it out in the snow.
