all 2018 PP GT's come with the cast iron differential housing

^^^ Same with my 2018 EB Prem. w/PP.My GT PP with MagneRide A10 has a black painted iron (per "magnet test") housing with torsen diff.
@Tim McCrearyCan anyone tell me how to identify a Torsen versus non-Torsen rear assembly if it is removed from the car?
I have a 2015 Ecoboost Premium PP.
I am also looking at a 2018 and 2020 carrier assembly with 3.55 gears. I think there are non-Torsen and Torsen types for these years with this same gear ratio. I believe the ecoboost PP and The GT PP1 had the Torsen and the rest had the non-Torsen.
All the labels say 3L55.
Without knowing the VIN from the donor car, can anyone describe any physical characteristic identifier that does not require removing the cover?
I know the Ecoboost has an aluminum housing and the GT has an iron housing.
Thank you!! That was the answer I was looking for.TIP:
If the rear diff has Torsen guts, you won't be able to see through it with axles removed. If the rear diff has Trac-Loc guts, you'll be able to see through it with axles removed.
Very first line of the original post (from 4 years ago): "Is the 3.55 Rear End 2018 GT PP1 A10 5.0 a Torsen?"3.55 was an option - for all the non-PP cars - OP never mentioned whether he has a PP car.
Hey Cobra@Tim McCreary
The 2018-2019+ GT PP or EB PP’s all come with iron pumpkins and Torsen.
The 2018-2019+ iron case will be coated black with a cast aluminum rear cover. Also to note, the 2018-2019+ GT/EB PP rear covers will have the included threaded port for the rear axle temp sensor.
A) The 2018-19+ GT w/ MT82 came w/ Torsen and 3.73’s.
B) The 2018/19 GT or EB w/10R80 came w/ Torsen and 3.55’s.

and.... everything you ever wanted to know about a Torsen differential:

Your 2nd image should be a Torsen diff.Hey Cobra
Regarding your tip...Which one of these is the torsen? Is the one with the bar in the center the clutch type traction LOK and no bar is Torsen?
That's where I'm getting confused then. I've seen a 3.15 aluminum diff housing that has that center bar. And that should have been a traction LOK. Are you sure it's not the other way around? The pics above are both from 3.55 carriers - I'm just trying to determine which is an actual torsen.Your 1st image should be a Torsen diff.

This is claimed to have been pulled from a 2015 GT automatic, which sounds right. You can see the center bar there.
Ahh, no worries. Makes much more sense now, so thank you!YIKES!!
@Howitzer
I had to edit my above response to you (and prior post further up) - sorry for ANY confusion at all....
A TORSEN rear diff, with axles removed, there will not be any bar in it and you'll be able to see through it.
A Trac-loc rear diff, with axles removed, will have the "bar" for the spider gears and you won't be able to "see through" it.
Your SECOND image in your initial question is the TORSEN.
Terribly sorry; didn't realize I had the types crossed in my original info.... Ugh....
Torsen differentials don't lock.torsen does not mean better by the way. it just means that it's going to lock and unlock seamless but it is weaker. drag racing you do not want torsen. autocross you do.
