I have a stock 2020 10 speed GT. I just put pilot alpins on my pp1 wheels. I plan to get a whole new set of wheels for next summer/spring (If anyone has P51, velgen vf5, Project 6th Ten’s, or HRE flow forms for sale hmu) but that got me wondering. Is the michelin P4S a good enough tire to put power down in first gear or would i need r888 for that.

The 4S would be a good all around tire for the street or if you enjoy some turns. The regular PS would be just as good too. The R888R would be the mack daddy IMO for street and road racing tire. It's a very soft tire that does work for sure. Loud though. If your springs are stock as well, I recommend running a 255 - 275/35/20 up front and a 295 - 305/35/20 rear. This way if you lower it an inch (common drop) you can keep the sidewall up and will sit nicely.

Depending on how much power you are making, either one will do the job. The 4S would be more of a daily tire that if you drive in the rain, will be safer. I was very happy with them and great for turning. With that said, the R888R would be ideal if you are boosted and street driving as well. This will be the tire I swap over here on mine next season.

With mentioning the wheel brands, we can ger a few of those brands. My vote is for Velgen wheels as I have ran them for years and they are awesome. Fitment, look, and finish is spot on. Project 6 wheels are another great option as well. I have attached a photo of mine with the Velgen C5V2 to give you an idea of how they look on the 18+.

I have run Michelin tires and contis on all my cars. my next set will be R888rs thought for my street setup... These mickey Thompson et street ss radials are amazing on the street for grip but they wear out very rapidly. I have had customers run the R888r on a forced induction set up and they do hold up well. The only thing I will say is they are loud! I would go with the Toyo, they are wicked in the twisties too!

That's a garbage tire.
Subjective on what you’re doing with the car tbh.
I’d go with Michelin or Continental if you’re putting an all season on.
Otherwise I’ve got a set of NT555’s and they’re alright as summer tires. Better than the Toyos and pirellis I’ve had before.
If you want to spend $400 a tire Michelin is your best bet.
Fire hawk Indy 500’s are great for the price, but not the best.
In the end you get what you pay for.

My track buddy ran 4S’s at VIR and Road Atlanta the last 2 weekends on his C8. Fantastic tires. They wear and stick well. For all-seasons, I am a big fan of Michelin Pilot A/S 3+. I haven’t tried the All Season 4 yet.
I’ve been running BFG Rival 1.5s and am happy with them.

At a stoplight or at the strip? If this is about stoplights, very few tires work well stone cold. In my extensive experience racing on unprepared surfaces, I have found the Yokohama A052 to be the closest to a "stone cold tire." And for sure anything Nitto can be crossed off the list as they are not faster going straight or turning than the latest 200 treadwear cheater tires.

Shhhh Dana. A052 is a terrible tire, absolutely sucks, and noone should buy them for street cars. They suck when cold and are terrible in the rain. Don’t even mention they exist until I have my sets purchased for 2023.
