With the HP being down for 22. I've discovered one change that can hinder power.

I've heard a change in Cats and carbon filter in the intake. I've discovered said filter along with an insert.

Wow double filters, and even smaller than the main one. That will definitely cost some power.

Definitely not ideal 😕. You can remove the filter. But even when you do, the amount of plastic and bullish in the way is ridiculous.

That's like the carbon trap filter on steroids. Does the 22 have that, too?

Can you elaborate? Is this filter more restrictive? Less restrictive? Why would they put a more restrictive filter on the car? Are they worried about particulate getting into the engine and causing damage? Choking off the air supply doesn't help fuel mileage or emissions?

What am I missing here?

From my understanding just the carbon traps and tune were adjusted. The cats are the same.

I THINK it has more to do with stuff venting out of the engine. But maybe someone else can explain what it does.

All I know is that Ford added more restrictive parts in the intake and adjusted the tune for a slightly better emissions score.

It's about evap coming out of the air filter when the engine isn't running. The hydrocarbons are caught in the carbon filter. Then once the engine is started again, the airflow pulls the HC back into combustion to burn them off.
