Needs a bezel to fill the gap between the opening and the light. Someone could probably 3D print something pretty easy?

It can be a non-working light or reflector as well as options.

I wonder how much of a difference is in the boss 302 grill lights and the mach 1 grill. Maybe it's worth looking into?

I have taken every opportunity when I see one to measure. I have not had a tape measure rather using the measure app on the Iphone. When I measure with said app the inside of the bezels are both 4.88 inches.

The only thing I haven't seen or looked at is the back of the Mach 1 grill. Need to know if there are any kind of supports or if that is up to the end user.

The light assembly from ford includes mount brackets but i do not know if the material is there on the grill to run screws into.

Those look like halogen fog lights. Be a lot nicer if the 15-17 or 13-14 fog lights could be used as those are led.

The lights I am looking into are from the 14 the LED @ $185/light though i am looking for something a little cheaper to test fit.

Based on the above dimensions I would say the 14 are the best bet to try as the 15-17 are way too small based on my measurements.

I have wanted to do this project myself, having owned 2 S197 GTs, both with the Fog lamps, they are our best shot for the Mach 1. My concern is the same, its the mounting brackets that are the issue. Each lamp is held in place behind the grill by 3 screws. What they screw into on the 2014 is NOT part of the grille insert itself. I think we will need to identify this part that the lamps screw into, and see if it can be mounted to M1 grill. I'm going to get back on offerup and see if I can source the parts for cheap, I have been kicking this around for a while.

Its important to understand this " shroud" or "bracket" the lamps screw into is NOT part of the 2014 grill assembly. The grill is just a little insert. We need the bracket supporting shroud or whatever you want to call it... highlighted in gold here:

GRILL INSERT NOT PART OF THE SHROUD WE NEED

I hope this helps moving us along.

the area with the bolts (the tabs attached to the lighting housing) are a part of the ford part. the substructure of the grill is the same across all models, from my research, and ford parts.com
so basically need to look at the back of our grill and see if there is enough room to put a 5mm screw in there WITHOUT compromising integrity of the seen pieces.

The link above is useful, yes the lights stay on if you swap the grill insert, I did this twice to get Boss 302 style honeycomb grille on my 2014 GTs. The lamps stay attached.

Lets peek behind our M1 grille.....A lot more going on back here than old 2014.

Red line shows a bore line if you bored straight through our blocked off fog lamp housings. See my hand in subsequent photos.

What is blocking me from seeing where the perspective fog lamp will sit is some kind of thin plastic blocking guard.

I'm pointing to it.

Nice pictures. Yes I believed the lights attach to the grill and the surround or structure do not do much to support them.

@sakman84 I like the view. The only way I know how to know for sure it to remove the grill and the inserts. One would imagine that if it was as simple as using previous model lights and brackets that Ford would offer a kit seeing as I would imagine back stock or even parts are still being produced. Starkey has a nice option for the harness with fog light switch.
