It’s not just the dash, it’s in the driver side door, rear right passenger c pillar, and a few other issues the dealer likely caused on accident.

I also said that I’ll be dropping the car off on the 22nd before I go in for surgery as I need it due to the lack of loaners available. The dealership already has my list and will buy it back if they can’t fix any of the issues, or if the trying to fix the issues causes new ones. So the dealer isn’t to blame, they always take good care of us.

As far as the overall expectations of reality I have for quality control issues, it’s not high which says a lot, but for a brand new car with 8 miles on it when I bought it, it’s a little ridiculous in my opinion.
Hey mate , sorry for the issues you are having. I have one or two rattles myself but it’s not a deal breaker for me, I still love my car but could you explain what the dealer buy back option is all about. I’m not sure we have the same thing in Australia but could you explain to me how it works please?

I think one of the major causes of a lack of pride in many peoples work and a consequent lack of company loyalty and a desire to always give 100% attention to detail in producing quality work, lies at the feet of the modern style of company management.
Their penny pinching, treating employees as disposable and underpaying everywhere they can attitude in order to say “look how cheap I can run the company for you” in order to ensure another fat unearned bonus for the year, is the death of employee loyalty and with it goes any desire to do anything other than to roll up, do your job with minimum effort, get your pay and go home to forget about work, for as long as the job lasts.
It need cost no more to assemble a car to a high standard than a low one, it takes the same amount of time and just needs the desire in the person doing it to want to be the best they can. What it needs is a sense of belonging and family if you like in being a part of that company, not just another necessary evil that management would and does ditch at the first opportunity.
When I started work in 1975 for a major bank, we were a family, the bank cared for and looked after its staff and we in turn always gave our best effort, we worked and we socialised together. Then I came the new broom MBA Uni degree style managers, with no people skills and bugger all idea what actually makes a business a success, and it all went downhill from there.
To sum up I think my attititude by the time I told them I had had enough was pretty common and still holds today for many people.
I told them I used to work for the bank and they paid me. Now I work for the money, it just happens to be at a bank at the moment.
I doubt it’s any different at automobile plants today, or maybe, just maybe companies like Kia, Hyundai and Toyota etc do realise that company loyalty and a desire to do ones best is something the company both needs to earn and will gain a valuable reputation for quality from, and you don’t just get it via a pay packet. Maybe that is why their fit and finish is so good as some have suggested.
I agree 100%.
This kind of sums up how I currently feel about my workplace.

The dealer buyback is at the discretion of the dealership. Because the owner is involved in all of my purchases, and he knows about the issues I’m having, he’ll buy it back if it’s something they can’t fix. Again, a rattle here or there isn’t a big deal, but when I have to turn up the radio to at least 12 to drown it out, it sucks.

Unwatch the thread instead of complaining about a fix that’s a million times easier than the issues I’m having with the car, lol.
I wanted to stay tuned for information , but looks like i ll have to take your suggestion.

You know how it is on this forum. New people come into a thread without reading the previous comments and the OP has to constantly re-explain.

Maybe I got lucky with my '17, but fit and finish are actually pretty decent. I've owned Toyota's, Honda's etc., and they're not as perfect as portrayed by many. I have no doubt that quality is better than it's ever been due to competitive pressures from foreign brands over the decades. I think that we're less tolerant of issues that in the recent past most would have overlooked or maybe wouldn't have even noticed. Competition certainly pushes everyone to be better. It's also a work in progress no matter the brand.

I had a few issues in the beginning. Leaky oil pan with the first 2k miles...it was fixed. I had the rear camera recall and I do have a few rattles in the driver side A pillar and passenge side C pillar (common issue). Drive with the windows down (which I do 90% of the time) I don't hear them at all. The car itself is a really tight chassis, more of a QC problem with the interior build which has always my chief complaint with these cars.

Also these cars are so damn gorgeous...

Yes they are gorgeous. Honestly haven’t met anyone that didn’t like the styling. That’s quite a accomplishment.

I find it really hard to keep paying the money they are asking for higher tier trims like the 400 or 401 group. This is the third S500 I’ve had that’s new with a list of issues, mainly with the interior.

This 2021 GT I bought a month ago has interior rattles,
scratches/defects on trim, scratched side mirror and passenger door glass, among some other issues and it’s only a 301a group car. As of right now, there are talks with the dealer doing a buy back.

I get no car is perfect but these are notorious for interior quality control issues.

I guess I’m just curious about what makes you continue to spend your hard earned on these cars knowing the issues they have?
I suppose not everyone is having the issues you do. My 2020 is a base GT (cheapest one you can have) and it has no rattles, no scratches anywhere, interior or exterior and I don't even have the "tick" issue in the engine that I've read so much about. Every time I go over dips where crosswalks are or speed bumps, I'm surprised how solid the car is and despite the jarring I get, I don't hear any noises that something somewhere is loose. I did notice though that the body panels don't quite match up like the quality Japanese cars have, but it's not really that noticeable so no big deal to me. That's just American cars. I did notice however, that when I'm wiping down the car, the hood makes a light creaking or tick sound on the first pass; I'm attributing that to the aluminum hood because I've never experienced that on any previous Ford that had all steel body panels (or any of my Hondas as well).

I have to agree with that. I've had people come up and say how nice the car looks; a couple have said it looks a "hell of a lot better than the Camaro".

That will be a lot of unlucky buyers
His case ( or mine) is far from being an isolated one
And a lot of lucky one's, I've had 2 new S550 with no issure.

And what is your point? Nobody ever said that all Mustang have issues
And the fact that some do and some don’t really point to some line workers doing a poor job
If it was an engineering or design issue, all or none would have those issues
