I know lol but be cool to hear what's going on with truckers lol
Not as cool as you think. I have one in my work truck only because we need them on construction and mine sites that have a lot of heavy equipment and trucks moving around. I turn it off when I leave the site. On the road you’ll just hear a bunch of nonsense on the radio. It gets annoying real quick. It is good to have when there’s a wreck or construction slowing or stopping highway traffic. But that’s about it.

I have a Cobra 75 in my wifes Jeep. It has all of the controls on the mic so it is bigger than a standard mic. But the nice part is you can mount the small brain box under the seat or dash. You would still need to figure out where to mount an antenna though.

It's been a good little radio and I would buy it again for what it is used for.

Another option could be a walkie-talkie style cb. They definitely do not have the range, but that is mostly due to the antenna. They also eat batteries, so if you would go this way make sure you get one that can be plugged in to 12v as well.

But the nice part is you don't have anything permanent in the car.

You should still be able to get line of sight distance out of it.
