can you imagine if a hailstorm or tornado just came through there? jeez
it would mean actually good paint and fit and finish after it was contracted out to non-Ford?

Posted this on the other forum. Earl asked me to share it here as well. This is from a friend on the inside.

Man Are they even going to reach their targeted production numbers for the GT 500 before the program ends?

Good question! 2021 was supposed to be a shorter run year from what I heard... to realign after the dance-mix extended-play 2020 version. After the chip shortage, who knows now... I can see 2021 getting run longer than originally planned once again.

I *really* want to know what Ford Purchasing did a year ago in their 'chip' ordering forecasts.

This making it up week by week IMO is just trying to play rearguard action. I would guess the factory outages will get doubled. easily.

Anyone with inventory will get sales. There isn't a lick of useful difference between F150 and the trucks from GM and Dodge. People have long-since jettisoned the quaint notion of brand allegiance.
And so have the manufacturers. With Chinese transmissions in the Mustang and GM/Ford 10 speed autos, itā€™s no wonder. Companyā€™s sharing progress is a good thing for product improvement and cost control. Itā€™s a bad thing for a company trying to make an iconic or breakout product and, arguably for brand loyalty due to a growing perception of brand homogenization.

due to getting their butt's kicked by the C8, the GT500 will continue till 2024 at least, at which point it will slink into oblivion in the face of the Z06. :) /JK

Hey at least the GT500 might actually approach 'quasi-collectible' as opposed to 'make as many as we can' GT350s.

What Z06? :frown:
https://www.automobilemag.com/news/chevrolet-corvette-c8-z06-delayed-2023/
Camaro's could be on the way out too.... The Z28 has been cancelled.

As to the C8 vs the GT500: I've participated in many HPDEs in the last 18 months, and the new C8's are no match for my base GT500. The 250+ HP differential is just too much to overcome. I generally hang with them in the twisties (except those with race slicks installed), but blow them away on the straights.
I've noticed the new Cayman GT4 is the closest match. They are wicked fast in the corners, but I have to back off on the straights as they top out at about 133. At my last COTA event, my garage mate had a new one and we had a good time on the track. Very nice car.

then your car is about equal where it matters. Straightaways are for relaxing, letting the engine cool down and opening up a fresh can of Fanta. :)

Ainā€™t no cooling down in this beast. The intercooler temp starts a quick climb approaching 160mph. But it drops just as fast in the next corner. A tribute to the cooling capacity built into the car. :like:
The previous GT500ā€™s needed some mods to keep that temp under control.

The carbon fiber track pack cars are going to be rare and should hold value well like the GT 350 Rā€™s have. Iā€™m wondering if total CFTP production will be even lower because of coronavirus and the chip shortage. What are they supposed to make 5000 or less carbon fiber track packs?

One thing I regret about my GT 350 purchase is not buying the R version. I guess it doesnā€™t matter anyway because I had to have an engine replacement and ended up selling the car. I sure would like to get a GT 350 R for the garage to but prices right now are nuts. A 2020 R with MSRP of $77,000 just sold on bring a trailer for $105,000. It had 31 miles. Crazy !

The total GT500 count per year was targeted to be 5,000. Of those 5,000 I believe 1,500 of them were targeted to be CFTP.

So over 3 yrs that would be 4500 to 5000 total CFTP cars . Similar to the GT 350R
Correct, but I suspect the 2021 MY will not see the full amount of CFTP cars (or base for that matter), making the total number less.

My kids kids are gonna be rich !
somehow by then I suspect the GT350/500 will have all been sent to the crusher save a handful in private collection or in a museum.
