Why do I need to use the paddles for 3rd? Is that a limit of the tune?
No, but you use your paddle to shift your transmission up into 2nd gear, then you have to use the paddles to shift unless you hold the paddle for a few seconds when shifting into the next gear, and then it will shift into the other gears automatically.
I didn't run any type of tune last, car was completely stock other than wheels and m/T tires.

Ok, when I paddle into a gear now in S mode, if I am at WOT it will shift, but only at WOT. I think they did this in the tune.

That would be a big advantage it your transmission is tuned that way! Mine wasn't, so I had to hit the paddles fast to change gears before my motor would go flat on the rev limit.
I was launching in 2nd gear and 2500 rpm, so that my turbo could build boost. I've made a few changes to my car and am now launching in 1st gear and 1850 rpm, allowing the transmission to up shift itself.

but why still wheel hop with all the stuff that is supposed to fix it?
Cause it doesn't really fix anything. Tires/tire compound/tire pressure fixes it.
I went with 28x11.5x17 street R tire @ 19psi and all my armageddon wheel hop went away.
No other changes.

When I launch from 2nd, I just push the selector into drive after I start rolling.

Do you have adjustable struts up front? Struts that will unload faster will be more beneficial than anything you throw for parts on the rear. Weight transfer is everything.

No, but BMR recommend some. They said the koni yellow would work. I was going to go back and see how it does. 2nd gear leave now.

That's why I like the base struts they react very fast on the rise.

Steerda Sterp duh Herp Kert.
I don't think it is that different than the BMR stuff, as far as results but maybe. Seems like they both work and use very similar methods.

And again same with the BMR, I sound like a fan boy now. There are some things that can be over come with better tires; but it would probably result in other problems if I had just slapped some slicks on. The 555rs are a compromise and I hope I can get by with them; but if not I know I can change tires (and everything else is done so I shouldn't have issues; well I suspect transmission will probably suffer at some point).

I won't knock BMR but I like the chromemoly better than the mild steel, also steeda's IRS brace looks like it was designed by Ford engineers, and didn't make production due to the bean counters.

What he said.
Steeda rear braces and bias ply. First time I launched, I let off. Thought I broke something. Nope. That’s called traction.
