I have 3 dental mirrors and none them fit through the hole in the filler tube. Does anyone know how to remove the plastic filler tube from the valve cover? The service manual was of no help.

I don't know but my filler tube is loose. You can wiggle it around and pull it up a tad but not out. I am guessing it just snaps in. I tried turning it clockwise and counter clockwise but it did not turn so that is why my guess is it snaps in.

Well, one more thing to check up on when I finally get her home. Mine was built before 12/2/19 so I should be good, but I’m gonna check none the less. Thanks for the info!

I removed mine to allow the oil cap to plug directly into the cam cover. You just need to put a little meat into twisting it off, it comes out.

It appears to be a twist lock, but I was afraid too use much force because I didn't want to break off the locking tang and have it drop into the engine. I thought there was some way to release the tang, but couldn't figure how to do it.

I like to disassemble things.
Looks like he can breathe a lot better now. The last three Chicklets need to go.

On edit....the earings are so cute I almost didn't even notice the bombing aftermath.

Hi Jaime, do you have a picture of the tube, I would like to see how it is attached, is it attached like the cap? Which would mean no locking tab.

I asked this a long time ago.....it is just screwed in....its impossibly tight....so hulk up and unscrew it(i may have used pliers) No idea why it has to be that tight, maybe so it doesn't come unscrewed when taking cap off.

I am with you on this. There appears to be a small locking tab. When you turn it to unscrew it, that little tab goes down like it keeping it from unscrewing. I don't want to break it off but if only more force is needed, I am your man.

There is a locking tab and it will break off. Luckily mine was still hanging on by a small piece.
And no, the piece you see in the pic is not the locking tab. It’s another piece that sheared off.

My tensioner seems to be in the correct position.
My finger is pointing to where the locking tab was located.

Here's one solution: The inspection camera has a tiny mirror attachment, set at 45 deg. on the tip. It gave me a slightly out of focus image, but was good enough to see that the plunger was extended. These cameras are $75 at Harbor Freight, and can be found for under $50 at discount outlets. These suckers pay for themselves when you're in a pinch.

How does it compare to the filler cap? Does the filler cap screw into the same hole?
