Shifter Recommendation

I'm hoping to get a shifter recommendation. There's a chance that I might have some surgery on my right arm in the future and if that happens I would like to have an easier/smoother shifting experience that takes less effort while my arm heals. I'll also take fluid recommendations.

As of right now, all of the gear changes aren't too bad with the exception of 6th which takes much more effort than the others.

After switching my trans AND rear diff fluids to BG from Optimum Performance - I've noticed shifts are generally smoother. Shifting into 1st gear and from gear-to-gear all seem less notchy, requiring less effort. I can't speak for other fluids - but I bet other high quality manufacturers will also improve shifting performance.

Also - during very cold days - I try to double clutch shift which can actually help make upshifts smoother as well.

Ive just fitted the Barton Shifter and love it. Very precise and smooth and the good thing about it is you can take all the springs out for a lighter feel or add them for a heavier feel so you could tailor it to how your arm is after the surgery.

The MGW is great, but maybe not what the OP needs. It has very robust springs, and does require some pressure - pull to the left for 1 and 2, push to the right for 5 and 6. Then again, that might be just the right amount of physical therapy after the surgery!

Not that I know of, but their staff are very responsive and helpful if you have questions. Just call or email them.

An MGW would be a great upgrade for you to help out with smoother and crisper shifts. Gears will all be closer as well. Hit me up and we can get you setup with a new one.
