..Have you checked your mileage going steady 70MPH on the interstate? I get 23-24. ..
Frank,
I have no desire to drive the 2019 GT350 on the Interstate highway. Furthermore, the Atlanta traffic runs about 80 Mph+ when not crawling in a traffic jam (same gas mileage but more fun at 80 Mph). :)

I must add that gas mileage is not my goal. I am not trying to save the world with my lower carbon usage.

I say go fast and enjoy the experience. The GT350 can get it done.

I'm with you on gas mileage not being part of the reason to purchase a Shelby, I was surprised how good it can do though. And then reminded about the guzzler tax, while so many SUVs eat more gas.

I drove '18 GT350 on track and noticed how slow it was on the low RPM. For comparison '19 GT350 is a lot faster on the low RPM. Ford upgrade ECU in '19 among other upgrades. I think it could be beneficiary for 15-18 to upgrade ECU as well.

Frank,
I showed my sticker. It had a $1300 Federal Gas Guzzler Tax. I was good with it.

I had one chance to buy a proper Mustang flat plan crank (FPC) engine. I was all in. I suspect the low-mile cars will be very rare and valuable one day, but I like getting the factory performance today.

I feel that I have a good chance with a good lap time at Road Atlanta, VIR, or Watkins Glen.

Let us know how your track days go. I didn't sell my 60s Shelbys and get the new one untill retirement and moving to Colorado. When I lived back east I showed my 67 GT500 at the SAAC show at VIR. What a nice track.

Frank,
VIR is a great race track next to the best one at Road Atlanta.

I'd say VIR is like Sebring and Watkins Glen: It's all about racing the tracks. Here @ Sebring.

I buckled up in my harness and ran at Sebring back when the racers had plenty of money:

It all "went wrong" as in the Doors song:

I have a racing license in a few racing series. I also know what you SAAC dudes do.

I could trace this pic back to 2005. This pic was taken from The Brian Redman Intl. Challenge 2005 Road America, Wi.
17 cars were destroyed.

Some of the lost cars totaled

'64 Corvette convertible $78 - $88K
'67 Camaro $60 - $72K
'65 Corvette $82 - $94K
'66 Corvette $84 - $91K
'69 Corvette $62 - $74K
'69 Trans Am $80 - 90K
'66 Shelby Cobra $250,000
'70 Mustang Boss 302 $74 - 89K

They estimate a total of maybe $2 million in damage.

I think it was 2005? Road America clipped off the top of the hill and put a big flashing light as you enter the front straight after that weekend. I was behind the front guys, and the corner workers were jumping up and down with yellow, red, and black flags.

I got in the pits and got loaded up to go home.

I watched the award thing the night before when the Camaro won "Best Restored Car". The dude had at least $75K in the rebuild. I say it was a $150,000+ car on Saturday night, and a $25K wreck the next day.

We would always stay at the Osthoff and enjoy the bands and cars on the downtown streets.
------
I am sure the 2019 Mustang GT350 could drive off the lot on stock tires and qualify up front today at the BRIC in 2005.

It's been almost 2 years since my car was delivered. It is best in the North Georgia mountains. It did well in the "Tail of the Dragon" early this year.

My next drive will be at Atlanta Motorsports Park this weekend (Dawsonville, GA). I've driven it before in another car, and it is a light by weight car track.

It's time for it to go to a track. I was invited to be there as a former vintage racer.

I think the car will do well as the temps will be high and get grip in the tires.
