Note Ford never made a 'Washington Special' Mustang. Nice state, BTW; I spent a lot of time in Seattle visiting a girlfriend, supporting a computer system in Spokane and driving through your backroads. Too bad about the homeless problem in Seattle; we're actually experiencing similar issues.
There is always the Toyota Tacoma...

I think the pre refresh California Special is looking amazing. The black vents, black spoiler, rocker stripes, nice wheels and the unique darker taillights just look awesome.
The current California Special in comparison looks like a huge step back to me. Side vinyl is placed strangely, fake side vents, the letters on the rear decklid look wrong, I am not really liking the wheels, no more black elements. Really don't understand why Ford just didn't copy the 2016 CS elements

Because they went back to the look of the 1968 original. The rear deck script, side scoops and stripes are a remembrance of the 68ā€˜.

That said I would have like some of the black accents from 16ā€™ as well. But those are easily added.

I'll add my 2 cents.... I owned a 2017 GT California Special Convertible.
It was a love/hate relationship with the package.
The biggest plus was the interior which was/is fantastic. The all leather seats in my previous GT looked terrible after a short period of time and I could never get comfortable in them. The leather with the miko suede inserts on the other hand was very comfortable even in hot weather and you felt locked in. The exterior design was subtle and not over the top. Loved the black accents on mirrors, hood vents etc...
My two gripes were the raised decklid spoiler which just didn't look right on the vert. The other was the Faux Gas cap which could have worked, but the lettering on it just looked so cheap.
I have to say that the 2018+ version of the CS really took the design cues too far... moving the stripe up, adding the side scoops .. not a fan...

yes, that gas cap is much better.... Here is a picture of the lettering on the 2016-17 CS.. just looks like a cheap stamp.... plus no depth it...

Never was a fan of the 2011 -2012 because of the stripe placement. Ended up getting a 2013 GT/CS and now I have a 2016 GT/CS The picture of the 2016 was taken Sunday during the freak snowstorm here in Austin TX

Bob:
The Shelby Super Snake and the Shelby GTE have Ford Performance suspension added by Shelby American in Las Vegas. The HPE700 was ordered from Ford with the Performance Package 1, MagneRide and Brembo brakes - with Hennessey adding the three l Whipple SC giving it 610 HP at the wheels it's the fastest I have. The best handling is my 2020 2.3 L HP (see attached). Plus it's my daily driver also. My 2019 Bullitt is straight from the factory stock - no additional mods.

haha, good thread. I live in Washington and own a CS AND a Toyota Tacoma! I think the only thing I also dont like about my CS is the fake gas cap, but since this is a unique car, I'm not going to change the fake gas cap and its rear panel, even though its easily reversible. I do know that on the facebook pages, there are always posts from people searching out this model to buy.

Iā€™m the same. I donā€™t care for it either but doesnā€™t bother me enough to change it. The only other thing I donā€™t like is that in hindsight I should of got white. It looks great with all the black accents. Your car looks really good !
