They make a small piece now goes on mirror that cuts the buffeting . As for seats for me I'm a 2 seat person. And the trunk has been made way larger in the 21s. Gauge cluster... Eh.. as long as shows speed don't matter to me. I'll just use the HUD anyway. I can see why down side for some but forme those things didn't matter.
Congratulations on the purchase. Looks great.

I'll never understand the hate for the CTR. I think most people can't get over cheap civics and think it's the same. I can say the same about the mustang. 50k for a mustang? It's just a mustang, lol. /Sarcasm

I like all cars for different reasons. I'd probably own a CTR if it were awd. I'm a big Honda fan. They're domination in F1 decades ago was amazing. I was just not wanting fwd for a change.

Tangent side, congrats on the purchase Briebee72! I hope you enjoy it fully!

That's why I return all my cars to stock then sell the parts.
I sold my previous 2012 gt a modded Paxton car for a good amount of money to an enthusiast. Iā€™m sticking with that procedure, besides i sold all my stock parts on my current car for good money. In my case i will get more of my money back selling it to an enthusiast rather then trading it to a greedy stealership..

I think the hate just comes from the annoying straight piped civics that we all know and hear. Given the extreme 'ricer' styling of the CTR it just caters to that demographic even more. I am glad that this isn't 2006 anymore and there aren't that many 90s civics on the road today as they once were. That, plus the fact that its a 4 cylinder engine and FWD, while impressive is really not exactly cool or desirable to everyone (especially on a Mustang message board lol).

I still have yet to hear a good sounding 4 cylinder engine that doesn't remind me of those annoying straight piped rice burners. Its honestly such a relief now when I pull up to one I can finally drone out their sound with my car lol. I always liked the Honda Accord better because it's bigger and a bit more powerful than the Civic. I really wish they would give the accord the R treatment but I know that doesn't make any sense.

There are ricers in every crowd. Mustangs especially. But i get what you mean. So many things are subjective. What one finds cool another doesn't. I find straight pipe v8s (and anything loud) annoying. Especially when they don't go anywhere. But i love seeing muscle cars running sub 10s at the track or pulling g's in the corners. I think car enthusiasts need to be more open. My experience in various crowds has been mostly closed minded people.

Edit: I've derailed this topic. Let me end it. We can create a new thread if necessary.

If you don't have a problem getting off your wallet and then some go drive a M2 competition, they're really amazing cars. You just pay out the nose for them. You can get them in manual / DSG.. whatever floats your boat.

No matter what you do to the mustang you'll never make it feel / have the balance of the M2. Plus they're small and feel that way too, another thing the mustang can never do.

That's what I'd trade up to if I didn't want my Stang anymore.

i love honda too. my first car was an s2000.

id look into the type r more if it wasn't FWD and if it didn't come riced out looking from the factory.

my main point was them not letting people test drive them like they are something super high end.

First let me say I love the car. I am just one of those I like a different car every year or two. I want to try them all :) I have modded all I want on the Mustang and short of getting into now 8 to 10k in mods there isnt much else to do. My friend says get a super charger but I am hard pressed to put a , in total 9 plus K item with labor and tune, on a car that has a resale valve of 34k, thats almost a third the value of the whole car for one item and just ridiculous.

The issue im having is finding something in the same class and price that is equal to or better then the Mustang. I also have the issue of I will absolutely not buy a used performance car period. I have looked at the C8 but right now good luck. I have had 12 dealers tell me most likely wont see a new one not spoken for till about 2022. the waits are that long. Or all they have for sale are the 100k models with all the crap I dont want. Even then out the door with taxes and all 70k is about what a base will run ya and I cant justify that cost for a car.

Ive been to car lots all over the stae and looked at every brand and man cars have gotten expensive. its getting to where the "average" car is getting to 45 to 60 K. I have seen 100k plus cars all over like they are nothing. Its not that I cant afford them, its that its a car not a house and the prices are stupid.

But anyway not sure what IM looking for here maybe I hope people may spark and Idea I didn't think about. But it is looking like that the Mustang is really the best value for what you get and maybe I have just reached the top :) I guess its just my restlessness and always wanting something new.

I have even considered trading out of performance cars and going for something like the kia k5 gt line for a few years and then reentering a mustang with the s650 to "reappreciate" the performance of them.

I dont know , im indecisive lOL what yall think?

everything ive seen says 0-60 in 5 seconds. Wrong wheel drive. Looks ugly.

interior wasn't that bad though, and the gearbox felt pretty good, wasn't a fan of the rev hang in it.

its 37k for a reason.

RS Cosworth ... (I know, you probably didnā€™t get to see them over there)

Old school 4 cylinder DOHC turbo.

Mine came with cats but was from an era where we could legally remove them in the U.K.

3ā€ off the back of the turbo, two straight through reasonably large silencers and a 4ā€ tail.

OK, itā€™s not a V8 but on high boost they sounded mighty fine and very distinctive :sunglasses:

It was an era when rice / tuner exhausts where just becoming popular in the U.K. and I couldnā€™t understand how those cars sounded so bad / tinny / raspy in comparison ... lol

My friend had a 480 ish bhp cosworth in an escort race car set up with anti lag, this was way before burble / crackle tunes and sounded totally different to what those guys try to emulate.

Four foot flame outs were an unavoidable by product of an old school set up like that, not a selection box you ticked when selecting your tune :surprised:

I have a freshly built dry sumped 450 cosworth lump waiting on a (very) long term project :like:

WD :like:

November 2020 Motor Trend said 4.1 seconds 0-60 in their Rapid Transit story... thatā€™s what Iā€™m basing my opinion on.
Yes, I agree itā€™s not much to look at šŸ˜‚
Iā€™d still take it if itā€™s as good a performer as they say it is. If the base Type R came in Triple Yellow, instead of only the 2021 de-soundproofed track version, Iā€™d be all over it.

cant say ive tested it extensively. But like I said all ive seen says 5 seconds..in 2018 it was like 6.7 seconds so still a good improvement. 4.1 would be nice but with the power and weight numbers I don't see it outrunning an ecoboost by that much without being AWD.

if I was in the market for a 4 door sporty vehicle, I would consider it more for sure. Its definitely a fun, practical (compared to a mustang) car. One of my buddies is obsessed with them, but of course he is totally into the ricer scene so that's not surprising. we both enjoyed it though.

a couple years ago a company (I don't think its motortrend..but I honestly cant remember the name right now) brought a lot of sports and supercars to my base (Vandenberg afb) and basically raced them down our huge flight line. The type r was actually in that group and my buddy rode along in it and loved it. lol

edit: it was motortrend. "the worlds greatest drag race". Im not sure if the Type R made it in the video and stuff or not though as it was clearly outclassed if you see the list of cars.

I've had nothing but performance cars since I was 16 years old, I'm 57 now and it's time to tone it down. I have no issue with the fact that my current Mustang is the last sports car I will own. I don't even know what I would buy. maybe a Bronco or an Explorer or a Ranger...all are pricey for sure. I wouldn't trade my car in on anything, modded cars get fleeced as trade-ins. I will sell it to an enthusiast then go out and get a new Truck or SUV.
I bought a Tundra TRD pro in 2017 and absolutely love it. Toyota doesn't advertise the performance figures for the retuned ECU and dual exhausts and intake, but the suspension changes and styling put it in a class of its own. I'm 57 and my 2020 bullet and 2017 Tundra will likely be the last new cars I'll buy.

I can see eventually moving on from the Mustang to something a little smaller or nimble, but for now it's perfect. The TRD PRO Tundra however I will keep until I can't drive anymore.
