Last year I went through this with my 2015 clutch brake pedal bracket. My clutch pedal went to the left as the welds on the bracket broke and were so sub par. Took 2 days to fix it and a week to get my back strait. Parts from China

I don't expect an immediate answer, but I was told do not track the car with that bracket after it was confirmed that we have the same part in our cars as is being recalled.

That wasn't the word of the gospel, but instead a possible reason.

There are lots of references to the notion that a DCT is not an automatic transmission if you google it.

Even though our supplement refers to our transmission as automatic, it distinguishes that it is not. A parts manager of 30 years says its not an automatic, so.....

What do are cars have in common to cars with automatic transmissions?

No clutch pedal and a standalone brake pedal assembly.

Does anyone think that Ford would spend the money to design a new brake pedal assembly just for the GT500, when they have one sitting on the shelf that bolts in the car without any modifications?

I like to disassemble things.

I don't think it works that way. Ford is mandated to ensure that vehicles they sell meet (at a minimum) Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. As such, a GT500 is not a Mustang GT as much as they share some components. For example, one of the tests they are required to perform/pass deals with "high speed effectiveness" with the vehicle loaded to maximum GVWR. A GT and a GT500 have different ratings. Apparently Ford has a GT500 version that passes Federal test procedures (as well as not failing under the identified "spike" loading situations) so you would think using that part for the recall would be a simple substitute for any GT500 sold that utilizes a bracket that has been identified as having the potential to fail (if that is indeed the case with the GT500 at all).

14.8.2 Test Conditions and Procedures S7.6.2 B requires:

Test Speed: 80% of vehicle maximum speed if 125 km/h (77.7 mph) < vehicle maximum speed < 200 km/h (124.3 mph), or 160 km/h (99.4 mph) if vehicle maximum speed ≥ 200 km/h (124.3 mph)
Because the GT500 has a different vehicle maximum speed it is tested to a higher "80%" speed. And of note, pedal force is measured/tested in some cases:

C) Pedal Force: ≥ 65N (14.6 lbs), ≤ 500N (112.4 lbs)
This standard applies to vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 3500 kg ( 7716 lbs.) or less. Standard 135 specifies requirements for service brake and associated parking brake systems in order to insure safe braking performance under normal and emergency driving conditions. The service brakes shall be capable of stopping each vehicle in a series of tests within specific distances, speeds, brake pedal forces, and/or decelerations.

Each vehicle shall be capable of completing all performance requirements without detachment or fracture of any component of the braking system
and without any visible brake fluid or lubricant on the friction surface of the brake, or leakage at the master cylinder or brake power unit reservoir cover, seal, or filler openings.
Because of the failures Ford is required to follow mandate protocols for the recall as they need to be in compliance or things could get very ugly for them - and owners in the case of injury and potential lawsuits.

Take a walk through this...

Well.....

I have been informed that my VIN will be included in recall 20S52 by that contact I spoke with. As of yet, it has not been added, but I was assured this will be taken care of. The part is being ordered as we speak.

Please do not start calling your dealerships. The people in charge who are responsible are on this and they are examining the situation. If it is deemed that the GT500 should have been included in the recall, it will be.

I put forth a very compelling argument yesterday with tier 2 customer service based upon the information I learned here. I think the deciding factor was that my BOM reflected that I had the same part that was being recalled.

Rest assured, the correct people are looking at this now. Please don't swamp your dealerships with phone calls. Let the process work from here.

Ha! Make your own informed decision. But I'd keep that one in the back of my head.

Remember, they no longer call it an emergency brake, it is now a parking brake.

I like to disassemble things.
And we are being directed to use it in case of an emergency...

Got my finger on the trigger....so to speak.

Well that is if this rain ever stops here. Winter came early in Oklahoma this year. 2020 continues to roll.
