For performance applications I generally recommend A3/B4 as the spec to follow, which is a European spec. It has more zddp, higher starting TBN, and higher hths than your typical api SP oil, all of which translate into better engine protection in extreme circumstances. While over-generalized, it can be argued that a typical a3/b4 oil will perform better than ($$) boutique API SP oils.
which exact brand spec do you use for your car?

Fuchs, Pentosin, Liqui Moly, Motul. Just a few of the best from across the pond since the thread took a turn to Euro oils.
My Castrol Edge Professional is no longer a German made product, even smells and looks different. Now made at BP Whiting Indiana. Still rated for 20K OCI (10K is my comfort zone)
I'm holding out that the API will reclassify GTL oils into their own group. I honestly believe GTL's may be the best base stock to date. Royal Dutch Shell is the only GTL game on the planet and Shell owns Pennzoil and Quaker State.

I was between that and the M1 0w40 (also Euro oil) recently. M1 got the nod.

Most of the engine's life has been on PUP 5W30.
The M1 0w40 is a good choice and usually available at Walmart for $25/jug. That’s a phenomenal bargain for what you get. I use pennzoil for the gtl base oil. I used pup 5w30 in my old Whipple f-150 before I was comfortable using a euro oil.

I run PUP 5W30. Even got the 5W30 oil cap to go with it

Interesting info about the oil cap with 5w30.
Does it fit the 5.0L Gen 3 Coyote?
I haven't seen anywhere that states that the EC-971 is compatible with the Mustang, so wondering if you have installed it yet?

Yes that is my pic I took when i purchased it. the 5W30 cap is still in my car. If the cap that came with your engine /car originally looks like the one on the pic, then you can use it.

Of course it fits. In other markets that's the standard cap. It's only in the US where they want you to use 5W20.

Please explain.
Undisclosed testing method and only one lubrication regime, plus no consideration for a myriad of other critical oil properties.

Basically any liquid with a boundary layer lubrication additive could perform well in his test without indicating how well the oil would serve you in an engine.
