Regarding the oil catch can and scavenger pump. Does anyone know if the Hellion Street Sleeper can be be ordered with Comp oiless turbos and eliminate the catch can, pump and associated fittings for it?
Thanks
Ken
No it cannot. But Myself being a ex Hellion Sleeper kit owner I swapped to the Comp Air cooled turbos. No oil or water lines needed. I like the guys at Hellion but the oil savage system was a complete pain in the ass. The collection tank between the turbos was hit a couple times by road debris as well as the oil drain fitting coming from the bottom of the turbo. A local GT350 owner with the same kit hit something on the road which knocked one of the oil lines off and had to tow his car. I recommended he buy the kit and he was pissed at me for recommending the kit. Get the Hellion Top mount kit and be done with the worrying.

I plan on doing a Hellion setup myself. Part of my choice is because of the ability of it to be a more liveable DD. With a blower, you need to switch out the pulley to change the boost. With a turbo system, you press a button on the dashboard (mounted boost controller). It also opens up the door to cool stuff like boost-by-gear.
This same boost control can be achieved with a supercharger. With Centrifugal it’s very easy. With a PD blower it’s a little more involved but absolutely doable

Centrifugal I get because you just wastegate like you would an exhaust driven turbo. ELI5 how the hell you do that on a twin screw without it being: just as expensive as a turbo setup, incredibly complex mechanically, or less reliable than a normal FI setup. I'm imagining basically a transmission for the pulley, which seems like terrible idea.
Just like on a centrifugal, you use the bypass valve

I don't know, it seems compromised. You put on a high boost pulley, only to cut the boost on it. You have all the parasitic loss, but operate in low boost. Meanwhile the turbo setup is always scavenging waste. I get the concept, but I wouldn't do it personally.
It’s not for everyone but it’s a option. Turbo will get you the most torque and horsepower. I have never daily driven a turbo car that wasn’t turbo from the factory
Turbos don’t just vacuum out your exhaust and keep it under negative pressure and do good all the time they keep your exhaust under positive pressure. The engine has to overcome that to get the exhaust out of the cylinder. they have down sides to

Hello all,

Looking at my current options, wanting to go FI around black friday time frame to make use of good sales. Currently trying to decide between Hellion street sleeper or whipple gen 5, but starting to sway towards the Hellion setup. Not looking for anything crazy quite yet, but eventually looking to turn it up.

Does anyone here daily their Hellion SS setup? Curious how reliability of the setup has been, and does having the turbos mounted low affect how they drive? Do most stay at stock height vs lowerered?
Hellhorse has a twin turbo bottom mount kit with comp oil less turbos. If you are near them they offer free install every once in a while. Like right now

I wonder if the sleeper kit could be ordered with no turbos and just get the Comp turbos myself or do the Comp turbos not fit up to the Hellion kit?

Scavenge system is what I definitely want to avoid.
The Hellhorse kit did look good too!

i like the hellhorse kit better. it is basically a boost works kit. even tho i have not bought anything yet, my concern is the after sale issues and communication with them. in every way hellion has been so much more responsive and respectful. i wish i could merge them: hellion service, hellhorse kit...

the hellhorse kit isn't a hellhorse kit, it is a boost works kit. hellhorse doesn't mfg products. I actually talked to travis about this last week, it should be marketed as a boost works kit.

as for the hellion sleeper, it's a great kit, we ran it on our 8 sec 4200lbs 2017 airlifted car.

Not a bad install, you get all the parts, and you get them quick , John and Jeff at hellion are great to deal with, and their customer service is great.

the kit performed flawlessly from day 1, we finished the install and 1 week later drove 9 hours to the GA nmra race, ran mid 9s on 20s and drove 9 hours home in the rain. FLAWLESS.

2nd trip out, through on a set of 17s, went 8.8@168 mph.

Never had 1 issue out of the car or kit.

The whipple kits perform flawlessley too. Great setups as well.

Your always welcome to reach out. Since we sell, install and actually run all the different brands on our cars, we tend to be a little less biased.

We have 4 shop cars this past year.

Next up is a Sai Li turbo kit. We like to try everything.

If you do the whipple you’ll be waiting until spring for the kit. If you do the hellion kit you’ll have the kit in 2 weeks.. its a no brainer..

LOL. Jeff and John at Hellion are really really great customer service. Had some parts missing from the kit and without hesitation they overnighted them to us even when we said just ship ground. Boostworks on the other hand seems to have a history of making purchase nightmares. Some members 3-4 years later still have not received their parts. Maybe things are different now. Who knows. The Hellion kit works very good. It is just not fun to work around if you need to do other work on engine or transmission. I highly recommend Hellions Screamer kit. I have had so many compliments on how insane the spooling sound is. It is an expensive option at $900 vs. Comp Screamers are $400 as an option on their turbos.

The wastegate solenoid can be setup in time with the shift points. I think you can do it with a manual, but I've only ever seen it done with autos.
What boost controller do you need for the boost by gear? E-boost 2?

I wish it would only be two weeks, they’re on a 4-6 week lead time right now. Ordered mine on Sep 5th and I was told 4-6 wk at that point. But I did buy it due to the outrageous Whipple wait time that’s currently going on.
