Seriously, how does the EPA rate this car at 14 city and 21 highway?

Like some others here, I usually do better than the EPA estimates. "City" driving always varies widely, but on the highway I regularly get 24-25 mpg cruising at 70-75 mph (just for fun I once tried cruising at 60-65 mph and got 26-27 mpg). Non-highway driving is still around 14-17 mpg.

Don't make every stoplight a quarter mile drag race and the mileage goes up significantly.

Best mileage I've seen is 19 mpg on a 1000+ mile drive from NJ to FL, almost all highway. Probably averaged 70+ mph but the biggest issue is I rarely drive in 6th gear - shuts down sport exhaust!
6th gear is also in "no mans land". RPM's way too low at 75mph. Car feels dead unless you're at least at 85 so i stay in 5th a lot as well.

Gotta say, OP's driving habits must be a contributing factor. I get better than that on corn.

I've never reset my average MPG gauge since i purchased the car new. After 6,126 miles (1/3 highway, 2/3 city), I have averaged 15.8 MPG.

I have 2017 gt350 and I average 11-12mpg city driving. 12 if I drive like a grandma shifting at 2k rpms and using 6th gear. 11 if I drive normal and that means not going over 3k rpms. I was wondering the same thing about the epa rating. I will says that I drove from north Carolina down to Florida. The trip was about 900 miles and I averaged 22mpg on cruise control. Otherwise I don't drive in the highway as work is a 15 miles drive no highway.

I have never checked the MPG on the car since buying it. So for me there is never any problem

After 3 track sessions (76 miles) I averaged 6.3mpg. A friend once told me, anything under 10 mpg means youā€™re ā€œdoing it right.ā€ He wasnā€™t talking about the track, just mpg in general, and I agree :)

Iā€™d hate to see gt500 mpg on track.

Interesting and confusing picture.
Does the estimated range number give us an average using total mile average for MPGā€˜S? It must or your mi to E would be about 25 miles.
Hope my question is understandable?

Itā€™s a very good question and I donā€™t have a good answer. However, as best I can tell, the range calculator is on a rolling 100-300 mile calculation. This picture was Saturday after my 3ā€™rd of 5 sessions. After my last session On Saturday I left the track with a little less than a half tank and the calculator said ~30 miles till empty. Then I drove 100 miles round trip home then back to the track for Sunday sessions. Itā€™s almost entirely interstate, 70mph average with the cruise set in 6ā€™th gear. After I topoff the tank just before going back to the track, itā€™ll say my range is something like 125 miles.

Since this is primarily a track car for me, I havenā€™t put enough street miles on the car to see how long it takes for the range calculation to normalize.

Hopefully that kinda makes sense.

I'm currently 2000 miles into a 3000 mile road trip, and after calibrating the AFE number to match what I get when I figure the mileage by hand, I'm sitting at 20.3mpg on the trip, and 17.5mpg for the life of the car. I'm sitting at about 6400 miles on mine at the moment. FWIW, I think my AFE number is 919 right now. I've been running 80-90mph for most of the trip in 6th gear, with the occasional passing maneuver. It appears that running WOT for any more than a few seconds puts a serious hit on the fuel economy, but we didn't buy this car for the gas mileage. I also have no trouble believing Ford's top speed claim of 180.

Would love to live where you live that you can cruise at those speeds!

I arrived home from my trip, and had an average of 20.7mpg with 2700ish miles overall. Basically a trip from Omaha, NE to Boise, ID and back on interstate the entire way. Speed limits in Wyoming(75-80), Utah(80), and Idaho(80) are a tad lower than I think they should be, and Nebraska(75) is terribly low west of Lincoln, but we work with what we have. The EPA rating of 21 highway seems legit, and I think the sweet spot for mpg vs traveling fast enough is somewhere in the 80-85mph range.

I bet you. Would see much better mileage with the cruise set at 50 or 55 mph.

And coming from a guy in NY (Upstate), those speed limits seem wonderful. We are 55 for the state with some sections of the interstate set to 65.

I daily mine and my commute is mostly through town. I have been averaging 13.x mpg
